  • J-hope created the whistle melody and the song was born with JCole in his mind. He gives way for his idol be as you say JCole. He listens to jcole’s rap while dancing underground like he used to. He started from the street looking up to JCole. Then at the end he met up with him at the roof as peers. Respected peers.

He was dancing underground while J. Cole was rapping on the roof, and in the end, Jhope comes to meet Jcole at the top. This may represents J-Hope's journey from the bottom to the worldwide top, from the time when he danced to J. Cole's rap even before joining BTS to the today when he can make music with his muse. Given all his hard work, i'm so proud of him. Now He has his idol in his music, sings together, and dances with Jcole's rapping. Happy to see his smile with his admirable artist. His goodbye(for a while) is sad, but he will be back with that smile. These two really did a meaningful job! (and i was waiting for your reaction!! )
  • It's very emotional bcz hobi is going military service and cole might drop his last album.
  • @elina786
An amazing metaphor. while J-Cole raps on the rooftop, hobi dances in the subway. it's the way hobi shows his great respect for Cole. while he was striving for his dream in the underground, cole was already his icon, like his sky. later hobi gets out of the underground and goes up to the rooftop and meets cole, meaning hobi became a great artist himself like his icon and got to work together with him finally.

I'm a 72 year old grandmother - I love this song SOOO MUCH & downloaded it immediately! And the MV - I can't stop watching it!!! Also - I loved watching this and saved the link. Thanks!!!!
  • @madxinthebox
My man Hobi collabing with his muse. 😭 I am so happy for him. This is his dream coming true. Imagine dancing to J.Cole's music when younger and now, getting to work with him. A full circle moment for our Hoseok.

"It goes back to Lollapalooza last summer," J-Hope told Variety. "J. Cole is my idol and we met there. Since then, I couldn’t stop thinking about how great it would be if we could make music together. So I reached out to him. I already had a plan in mind to release music around this time, and I began working on it in early November. As much as it took me a while to finish the song, I cherish it so much and it means a lot to me." The release of "On the Street" follows the recent announcement that J-Hope will be the second BTS member to join the ranks of Korea's mandatory 18-month service in the military. This was j-hope's "see you in awhile" message to Army as he goes off to the military. Dream come true for him as he's always loved J. Cole. j-hope's line in BTS' song "Hip Hop Lover" from way early in their career: "Hope hope world, before I built my own world, there was Cole world"

When Mr Cole says that he has already achieved a lot and could step out to the new artists, but he's still hungry to work reverbs so much the feelings of Hobi's MORE and ARSON I was blown away
  • @nirvana6172
mad respect to jhope for giving the floor for his idol. and the alley where jhope walked in from the first scene of this MV is also the same street where j.cole did his MV called "SIMBA"
  • @pw7327
The billboard says 'its my call' as in its J-hope's call for the mandatory military service. He is enlisting for it soon n this is his last project and a gift to Army. Legendary collaboration with J.Cole his muse, the one who opened up hobi's world. On the street refers to where he organically originated from, his root that made him who he is today. Also on the street is a homage paid to Cole by Hobi for being his longest time inspiration.
  • @VIDAH_
Man, this song is fucking incredible, I can't stop listening to it. Jay let Cole have a full 32-bar proper verse and then Cole put all force and effort into his pen and ate that blaze of verse bro this is the embodiment of respect. Also Hoseok underground freestyling to on the top of the roof Cole is a damn circle of moments! Ugh this song is incredible. The MV also seems simple but it's sentimental.
  • @yarikun325
The whistle is what Hoseok randomly came up at home, liked it, recorded and then made out of it this bop)
  • It's so touching that during the j cole part, j hope dances underground as he danced to j cole's music many years ago, but this time to their song together, amazing. Then it comes to the surface, which I think is a metaphor for his development
  • @Launibu
When j cole said, "jhope, Cole world" it got to me.😢
  • @madxinthebox
I saw that proud smile of yours when you saw Hobi and J.Cole together at the end of the video 😭
  • Best collab ever j Cole is the role model of jhope he learned to rap from him
  • this is literally the best collab ever i’m so proud of hobi for getting to work with his favourite artist🥰
  • Cole is one of his idols. BTS/HOPE, They’re huge fans of him and even did a cover of Born sinner called ‘Born singer’. J-Hope is currently getting ready to do his mandatory enlistment in the South Korean army, so this is kind of a little goodbye until he’ll be back! It’s really a full circle moment for him. Well, where is such a miracle in the army, well, why ?? What a spring song, this whistle directly evokes the vibes of a walk along a spring street, and the mood is so nostalgic, right when the sun is shining and the soul is light, I even want to cry. And the fact that the melody was written by Hoseok, but Cole's verse really hit me in the heart. I love you Hoseok unbearably, don't go..
  • @linda8595
" In a way, you could say the song began with me whistling as I often whistle the melodies of the songs I listen to. I was home dwelling on what kind of music to make and I just randomly blew a whistle and that just became the melody for “on the street (with J. Cole).” I instantly liked it, recorded it, and worked on the song with my producer. It came to me naturally, so I hope listeners would feel the same way about the song. " Above is the part of his interview from VARIETY about the beginning of this song. Hobi is so talent but works hard for his fans as an influential artist in the world. Really awesome.
