I've followed Mr. Overton for quite a while, and was so sad to hear of his passing. We should appreciate our WWII veterans while we still have them around

He joined the army at 34, being much older than the other soldiers. He built his own house by himself after the war. He had a diet of cigars, whisky, and butter pecan ice cream, and lived to be the oldest surviving WW2 veteran. What a legend.

What a hero. Rest In Peace sir. You are the reason this world goes around. Can you erect a life sized statue of him in his hometown, please. The world needs this.
  • I did not know he had passed away until I saw this video on my recommended list. I do not live in Austin or Texas but the best thing I will remember about Sgt. Overton is the meme of him smoking a cigar, a glass of whiskey on his table and brandishing a Thompson submachine gun. No, no one will ever be as cool as Mr. Overton smoking a cigar, drinking whiskey and brandishing a Thompson submachine gun cool. Rest easy, sir.
