What I realized after owning a fake Hermes Mini Kelly for 30 days

I’m 37 yo, I already have a black Birkin bag and it is my first and last mistake. I can afford Kelly in any color. If I would be 25yo I probably would buy it. But now I consciously DO NOT want to be associated with ladies who own Kelly and Birkin. I have no interest to pay 40k for a bag (piece of leather +labor = maximum $1000) Just imagine 39 THOUSANDS goes to the brand name. Absolutely unnecessary.

I used to be into this stuff until I truly stopped paying attention to trends and started wearing what I like. I don't think that we realize sometimes what suckers we really are! I'm trying to work on my soul and it's done alot for my peace and happiness!

I own a fake brown Kelly, came from Turkey and it is just perfect, excellent craftmenship. Even if I had that money I would never pay that much for a bag, it is simply ridicolous. You can build a school or a hospital in Africa for that kind of money. Ridicolous prices!!! And the Hermes game you have to play just makes me sick. You are above that nonsense Caitlin, high above. 😘

I would NEVER spend $40-50k on a bag unless it was Diamond encrusted. It’s insane! I like the mini Tory Burch Lee Radziwill bag. Looks just like a mini Kelly and is only like $700.

I am 53 and seriously worried about younger generations being manipulated to spend this amount of money on accessories. Apparently, collectively as humanity, we’ve learned nothing about creating a better society for everyone. I am very sorry for all of us.

What’s funny is that a lot of wealthy women wear Super-Fakes! I mean think about it…If for instance a Kardashian was wearing a Birken, you’d NEVER even question if it’s real or not! Rich people are rich for a reason! Yes they spend money on the real deal too, but if they can get away with a Super Fake, they’d much rather spend $500 versus $20,000! In fact, a friend of mine works at Neiman Marcus, and she said the wealthy people shop in Athleisure wear, and the middle-class people come wearing head to toe Louis Vuitton or Gucci! Rich people don’t do that! Rich shouts, but wealth whispers! 😂 Also those Hermes bags are for old ladies IMO. The tiny Kelly looks a bit younger. I’d never buy one! So many contemporary designers have knock-offs for a fraction of the price! Also..who wants to walk around these days with a $20,000 bag? With a crazy world we have today I would rather keep my Chanel bags and buy real estate than Hermes bags. Just bein smart and practical .

So, as a person who finds Coach and Hobo to be high end, Hermes is on a whole nother planet 😅. That being said, even if I did have a lot of money I just could not justify spending that on a handbag and this is coming from a girl who loves bags. Last year I couldn’t make up my mind between choosing a Birkin or a Kelly so I purchased both Dupes. I ultimately chose the Birkin. Black Togo Leather Silver HW 30. My Birkin Dupe is “exactly” like the real thing except for the name.

I think dupes are a great way of trying something out. I also have a Kelly inspired mini bag for a fraction of the price. Personally, I would be hesitant to buy a rip-off of small business, but for the bigger brands I don’t mind so much, So long as they are not directly copying the branding/logos. Also I am not in Hermès target audience so it’s not like I’m taking money away from them.

I have two Kelly dupes - one made of PU and another one made of genuine leather, which I got after the top handle of the PU got so tattered. I can't afford the actual Kelly, and even if I could, it costs the same as a low-cost house/a flat in my country, which is a crazy amount to spend on a bag.

That’s what I did too. I bought a fake one. I am not spending that much money for a real one because like you said you can’t fit much in it .

I think a all black leather Pochette Metis would also go with all of those outfits AND it would fit all of those items you mentioned. Much less expensive than Hermes also !

You can get a much better replica. Real leather and great quality. Those prices for the real one are just ridiculous and not worth at all. No matter if they are hand made, great leathers, etc. Get a better replica and enjoy it.
