Are you kidding me? His father only got 5 years suspended sentence? He did NO prison time for what was really 1st degree murder? Unbelievable injustice to Marvin and a slap in the face of the judicial system. What a tragedy.
  • A REAL preacher NEVER would have taken a life let alone his own son
  • @binslick1000
The death of Marvin was not manslaughter! It was premeditated murder! He was shot from a distance and a second time point blank!!
  • "What's Going On" was not only about the Vietnam War but also his reaction to the death of Tammi Terrell, one of his closet friends. It was her death that led him to depression and drug abuse. Marvin never got over losing Tammi. RIP to both Marvin and Tammi 💜💜

Wow what an episode. The irony of giving the gun to his dad is just mad. Also, its a real look on how drugs can ruin even the most hard working and smart people in this world. RIP Marvin.

A lifetime of corporal punishment and mental abuse by a cross-dressing, alcoholic, religious fanatic, finally murdering in cold blood and he gets 5 yrs suspended sentence?

I'd like to see more episodes. Like Phil Hartman, Chris Farley, Bruce Lee, Elvis....

damn he killed his own son and never spent a day in jail.

The greatest male singing voice ever, such a shame what happened.
  • @tracevicente
His wife’s memoir is really heavy. He was a deeply sensitive and conflicted man.
  • Marvin Gaye, was a great singer and musician and it was sad on how his own father had murdered him in cold blood, and also it has been 38 years since his death and wondered if he could have been really saved that fateful day by the paramedics which it is still a mystery to me to this day.
  • As strung out and paranoid as Marvin was, his father shooting him is flat out murder, premeditated murder, forget all the bullshit excuses of resentments, drug abuse, it's Murder, simple as that, how do you kill anyone, nevermind your own son, I see a jealous, hateful man, who thinks he's all that, and Marvin hitting him was his long awaited reason to shoot, I'll bet he had it in his mind for a long time, mooching off his son's success, Marvin should've left his father behind long ago and he'd be alive today, the father is Guilty of 1st degree premeditated murder. Period.
  • Me and Marvin have the same birthday (April 2nd)!!!! My mom and one of her closet friends were heartbroken and shocked about his death. He was such a fantastic male vocalist. I was 12 years old when he was murdered.
  • This whole show seems to be an excuse for Marvin's murder, he was a drug addict, not a demon that needed to be eliminated.
