DESCRIPTION: Plant-based diets may help rheumatoid arthritis by decreasing exposure to an inflammatory compound found in animal products. Bacterial endotoxins are another reason animal products may trigger an inflammatory immune reaction. See The Leaky Gut Theory of Why Animal Products Cause Inflammation (nutritionfacts.org/video/the-leaky-gut-theory-of-w…, The Exogenous Endotoxin Theory (nutritionfacts.org/video/the-exogenous-endotoxin-t…, and Dead Meat Bacteria Endotoxemia (nutritionfacts.org/video/dead-meat-bacteria-endoto…. According to Wikipedia (not a great source), Neu5GC is found mostly in beef, lamb, and pork and to a lesser extent in dairy products and a trace amount in fish. It is not found in poultry.
  • @Annetvanb
Does this Neu5Gc molecule only occur in meat, or also in fish? And what about eggs?
  • @MNveg
There's not much in eggs or cow's milk. However, there's lots in goat's milk.
  • @JustAnotherVegan
See this article: "Non-human Molecule Absorbed by Eating Red Meat and Dairy Generates an Immune Response Against the Molecule. (Study by UCSD Researchers)" "Very low or undetectable" levels in eggs and fish other than salmon.
  • @livefreeallways
Interesting nver heard of this molecule. Is it found in dairy too?
  • @JW1171
but then how do u get protein?
  • @JustAnotherVegan
There was also a study on rats where saturated fat caused a bacteria associated with IBD, B. wadsworthia, to multiply in the gut.
  • @WOB1010
And if in MS is related to Chronic inflammation....
  • @camels9654
I almost never eat red red meat, well I tried a few home made burgers last night and my stomach has been killing me all freaking day. For me at least, my body doesn't seem to like it. I can't eat gluten either. I can eat basically anything but Neu5Gc and Gluten. I enjoy fish, chicken, veggies, fruit, etc, but not these two proteins/sugars.
  • @AnnieOKeeffe
You have in the photos red meat animals, which is what Neu5Gc comes from, and processed meat.  It's not in poultry and fish.

I started developing arthritic-like symptoms and I'm only 33!!! my finger, my joints started to get painful. i was eating meat on a daily basis. now i only eat meat 2x a month, if i'm being completely honest, and my arthritic symptoms have decreased by about 90%!!!
  • @audiovisuality
This is great, because I can now say with confidence that I am allergic to meat and dairy in restaurants!
  • @NoirHammer
More evidence to back up my 24-year diet. Thanks Dr. Greger.
  • @gaga1812
yea lol, been suffering from worsening arthritis for 20 years. 10 weeks on carnivore diet and all pain and i mean ALL GONE. But thanks!

LuniaVideo, judging by your reply to Ricky Anthony, you are not even worth talking to. Nonetheless, I will address your lame arguments. Neu5gc is a sugar made by non-human mammals, so it will be present in cows regardless of whether they are grass or grain fed. Bacteria can use more than just sugar. The bacteria I mentioned, Bilophila wadsworthia, thrives off of bile (hence its name). If you care to educate yourself, read "Western diet changes gut bacteria and triggers colitis in those at risk"
