I am 74. The best of my life became possible because of this man. When i contemplate his contributions to our world, I am blown away. 💖
  • I am so grateful for this man. I met him personally some years prior to his stroke. He taught me the seed of unconditional love. Literally. I started listening to self help audios years prior when feeling so alone in deep suffering. He was the light amongst the dark walls I faced often times in life so when I finally met him you can imagine how excited I was to meet him. At plum village they had this 7 day (or so) ceremony and on the last day they had all of us get together for photos. They had me sit just infront of him. I couldn't believe I was so close. I had a regular camera. And the battery went red. My mom used to always take the batteres out and put it back in to get a little extra juice from the battery. So while everyone peacefully posed for a picture I was doing all I can to take the batteries out and put them back in while probably pouting out loud (because I so badly wanted a picture of my favorite person). I finally got the green light. I turned around and I immediately took a picture of him (he was just a few feet away), while realizing the flash went straight to his face. All of a sudden I was a bit embarrassed from invading his space. I didn't feel him looking at me in any judgmental way. He didn't look annoyed. He didn't appeared bothered by me. Nor did he look at me with disgust. He instead looked at me in the most fatherly, nurturing, kind, loving, accepting way. He smiled at me warmly from a place of such gentleness and compassion. He kissed his hand and then placed his hand slowly and lovingly to my forehead and just looked at me with pure kindness for the longest while. Time stopped. It was just love that flowed. I met an angel that day. He reminds us to find the angel within. Throughout. Beyond. All things. If it's hard to look at another with that kind of love, maybe it's best to start within. We are all going thru some much. Many of us have felt betrayed, hurt, violated, wronged, controlled, disrespected, unloved... as well as the guilt from thecerong we might have done to others (and to ourselves).. we all carry our own cages and our own strife. We also carry the light. This world carries within it heart and the lack of heart. The light and the darkness.. Within the trenches of darkness we also (when ready to) can find the light. Rest in peace Angel. You help me transform it all. Eventually. Oddly so, when we can sit within our biggest discomforts the colorful rainbow eventually emerges. One moment at a time.
