Do you prefer Effie in the films or in the books?

This is a rare time where I believe that a character was developed better in the films than in the books. While its apparent that Effie realized the capitol were the bad guys in the books, her being a part of the rebellion in the films was amazing
  • You can’t hate Effie. She was indoctrinated, but she was a giving person. She had such great character development.

I love how Effie’s character developed throughout the books, in catching fire she finally realized who the real enemy was... the capitol, and she had more emotion.

Katniss: slams Peeta against wall almost choking him Effie: MANNERS She has her priorities straight
  • If Effie didn't pick prim's name that time, everything would be different
  • I just realized that the 75th Hunger Games was just an all stars season
  • The movies did the design team dirty. They were so important in the books and just so nonexistent in the movies.

Elizabeth Banks was mesmerizing in her performance during the 75th Reaping. You could see every emotion played out, see how genuinely upset Effie was about what Katniss and Peeta were being put through.
  • Personally, I think Effie in the films was done a little better than in the books - because we were able to see her personality and witness her changes and growth, and I did like how she was in the last films rather than locked up - considering everything she’s seen and how close she became to Katniss, Peeta, and Haymitch, I doubt it would have been wise to have her locked up or that she could still be all sunshine and butterflies. It shows in the last films how that even though she still keeps her personality and fashionista persona, she’s showing concern for those she cares about. I feel the films make it a little more ambiguous as to what she’s going to do with her life now that the Hunger Games are over, and that’s honestly for the best than returning to the Capital.

Haymitch: almost gets stabbed Effie: * gasp * that is mohagany!

11:55-11:57 "You BOTH deserve SO MUCH BETTER'!" That was a pivotal line from Effie in the movies and we'll delivered by Elizabeth Banks! In hindsight, Effie saw the horrors that Petta and Katniss would face and rightly so!

''That is mahogany!'' and ''you both deserved so much better.'' are two of my favorite Effie lines of the entire series. Also the difference between them shows her character development so well

One of my favorite scenes in all the movies is actually when Effie pulls out Haymitch’s name in the 75th reaping. You can really see how genuinely drained and upset she was while having to send away Katniss and Peeta, once again.

It would have been interesting if the novels had given Effie more of a back story. Was she married? Did she have any children? I thought that Effie came to see Katniss and Peeta as the children she never had.
