It's a small mercy Jorge never had to see this.

"There'll be another time... Can you survive? Alone? The Covenant decided long ago to take Reach and no single man- make that no single Spartan -could stop them. You fought long and hard and gave Reach your all to achieve this point. Fight if you must, but understand that you owe Reach nothing. Your efforts will line on the annals of history, and all of humanity will sing your praises for centuries to come. Be the Lone Wolf if you desire and fight for all you can, but you know this is not a battle you can win. It is time to say goodbye."

In my opinion, which I'm assuming doesn't mean much, I think this is one of the heaviest, emotional, and just downright sad endings to anything I have ever seen in my life. The fact that Six joins the team to help defend Reach and ultimately fails isn't that much of a surprise because everyone already knew that the Covenant made it to Earth. But just seeing Six how he probably was before Noble team and just knowing there is absolutely no way he can win or stop this is incredibly heavy. It really puts this whole game into perspective. If it wasn't for Noble team and Six, Chief and Cortana don't make it official planet. If Six doesn't stay back, everything is different. And this ending just sums up everything about this game: unwinnable. No way to win. And also the soundtrack really tugs on the heart

just standing there with no hope but with gun in hand, the helmet hiding the emotions but shows no fear.
  • @Xavieus
That whine in the beginning almost seems to mimic a wolf howl… I’m just noticing this after 11 years
  • @hazmatt3250
Apparently the big cloud at the beginning is supposed to look like master chief pointing a gun..... I can see the helmet but that's about it... Anyone else see it?

Technically, this was Bungie’s goodbye for the Halo franchise. They went out fighting.
  • When you’re friends make a big water battle and you are the last person without water on you re clothes

  • The only reason this makes me wanna cry is the memories and the fact that the servers are shutdown, never to be played again.
  • @Yokyle4356
I need to find a cave to hide in. There is nothing more scarier than a world full of your enemies and you're the last man standing
  • @SROD_559
This shit still hits me hard :’(

Reach was said to have fallen on the 31st if you check the Halo Wars 1 Timeline. Six is standing as the last known survivor at 20:00 of the 30th (aka: 8pm). That means canonically (at least to the game), six fought off the entire covenant army, for four whole hours before his death. It’s just so crazy, that he alone fought a whole army with nothing else to his name. No one really knows who he was, and yet he’s the sole reason why Chief and the Pillar Of Autumn could even save Humanity against the Covenant. He plays a vital role in the entirety of the Halo Timelime, as is considered none other than actually US. You know, we get to customize Six to our liking because Bungie’s unique way of storytelling. It’s like a love message to halo fans, and how we (even as noble six in game) had been the deciding factor of how the Halo Universe would be. Bungie did well, and so did we, at least during this time…
  • "The wailing cry of an ethereal beast rang out across the valley, emanating from the invasive purple creatures filling the sky, vaporising every last inch of this doomed world. The rusted sky, the blood soaked sand, the cracked and defiled mountains, all lay in ruin of what was once a beautiful world of clear blue skies, lush landscapes and delicate valleys. It was as if the planet itself was crying out in agony, as beams of plasma turned it's rich surface to glass, erasing the once great civilisation and nature that resided there. "The last transport left hours ago, taking with it humanity's last hope for survival from this dying world to better horizons. The sting of isolation bit into me, leaving me to the same fate as the earth I stood on, already surrounded by the bodies of long fallen brothers in arms; troopers, marines, even Spartans. In the corner of my periphery, I catch the ghostlike movement of a phantom drop gingerly right on the edge of the boneyard, deploying it's payload of bloodthirsty monsters and I know intrinsically what this means for me. There'll be another time, but now? It's time to kick some ass..."
