Frank Prentice's survival of the Titanic's sinking in 1912, at the age of 23, is one of the miraculous tales from that tragic night.

More than 1,500 people died when the Titanic struck an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912, causing the boat to sink.

In the BBC documentary The Great Liners from 1979, he vividly depicted the harrowing events of that historic night.

Prentice described how the Titanic sinking continued to haunt him in his dreams for decades afterward.

"'I shall probably dream about it tonight" Bless him. That kind of experience is one that would follow you for the rest of your life. His story about the half filled life boats stuck with me. It really is a well known phenomenon, people just can't accept the danger that is in front of them, often until it is too late. It's always something that happens to someone else, never you.

Doesn't surprise me at all that he ended up being rescued by a lifeboat and sitting next to Mrs. Clarke. He helped her and saved her life, so the circle of caring was completed when she saved his. If only we all could face calamity with our caring & courage intact. I suspect that global climate change, the great economic reset and geopolitical hypercompetition will test us very sorely in the years ahead. May we rise to the occasion and live to tell the tale...
