Man I'm in early 60's, grew up in the jazz scene from NYC to Baltimore and DC, had a few years of AfroLatin music shows on FM radio, was leader of a 6-9 piece band many years, and the first time I'd even heard the name "Snowy White" was about 7 years ago from a stumbled-upon mp3 titled "Bird of Paradise". My ma is one of the original hippest chics on the planet, still very alive and well at 85, turned me on to everything from Ravi Shankar to Pink Floyd, Rimsky-Korzakov to Janis Joplin, so much more. She says, years later, she can't get enough of Snowy's "Bird of Paradise". THIS track is gonna be the perfect jam track for her to explore the instrument at a perfect pace.
