Elvis '56

Published 2023-03-06
Elvis in his breakthrough year, performing the songs that made him famous. Narrated by The Band’s Levon Helm, and produced and directed by Academy Award-winning Alan and Susan Raymond, this acclaimed documentary has all the legendary performance clips. Probably the best documentary on Elvis, it has so much performance footage, it’s almost a concert.

THERE WAS ONLY ONE ELVIS AND THERE WILL NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER BE ANYONE EVEN CLOSE TO HIM!!!!!
  • Elvis just got better and better with time. He broke down barriers for many stars to come. All of this happened before I was even born but I have watched all of the footage I can find on social media getting to know all I can about Elvis. Elvis is a humble Southern man who was blessed with beautiful looks and a magnificent voice that could reach notes that even some opry singers can't. Elvis is the best entertainer of all time. No wonder everyone called him the King of rock and roll.
  • This reminds me of my teenage years. My dad always told me “turned off that screaming, that is not music “ . I only listened to Elvis when my dad was not home. Hahahahaa, I got a good teenage years. I meet my and brought me to AMERICA. He took me to all ELVIS SHOWS AND HE BOUGHT ME EVERY RECORDS THAT ELVIS HAD. I’m 84 yo I’m listening to his music ‘til 3 o’clock in the morning. I was a fan since I was 15 yo. I love the man and his music.

I have seen almost everything there is to see about Elvis. But I never saw this 1956 thing until today, 5/6/23. And I have to say that this is one of the best things I have ever seen on Elvis.

I didn’t ever know that Gladys had not approved of the signing with the Colonel! Too bad he didn’t listen to his momma at that time.

One of the best ive ever seen. Put in chronological order for me to understand who he was n who he became. It wasnt just the voice, he was a musical genius. We saw that in the movie how he blended all the voices n instruments. Only the best got to work with him.

He wasn't just a singer or entertainer, he was music impersonated. This documentary makes it obvious. And the question arises, why would God send an individual like Elvis to earth for such a short time!?
  • I became an Elvis fan in 1973 .I was 12 the first song l heard was Hound dog and the first movie l saw was Jailhouse Rock.I am61 almost 62. Still love his music and movies. A very great singer and entertainer.

I think after seeing this where Elvis is singing Tutti Fruiti really explains what they meant by Elvis crossing the racial barriers. I don’t think I fully understood what that meant until now.

I loved it when he sang “My Way” in concert he seemed like he was really singing about himself!
