Amtrak Lake Shore Limited NYC To Chicago

Published 2023-11-17
Today we take you on the Amtrak Lake Shore Limited train ride. We had a great time on the Lake Shore Limited New York to Chicago. We have also been on the Lake Shore Limited Boston. We had a great time at the Moynihan Train Hall Metropolitan Lounge, the staff there is the best. We arrived to Chicago Union Station which is in a great location right in the middle of downtown, you can walk to so many places from there. The Lake Shore Limited sleeper car has the family bedroom, bedroom and the roomette.

I wanted to relate to you a very short story concerning my most recent adventure aboard Amtrak: Two moths ago, I traveled in a deluxe bedroom (as they used to be called), from Flagstaff, AZ to Savannah, GA (3 trains) aboard Amtrak. There were a few “issues” with the rooms I was assigned to that I was not overly pleased about. I remembered watching one of your videos a couple of months ago, when you suggested contacting Amtrak customer service concerning any complaints, because Amtrak will sometimes offer you a partial refund or a travel voucher, based upon the severity of the complaint. So, I took your advice and contacted Amtrak concerning the problems I encountered during my trip. The entire trip cost me $1,600. Even though it took Amtrak nearly two months to get back to me, eventually they issued me a travel voucher for $600 to be used on my next train trip! So, you guys were right and I just saved $600 by watching your channel! Thank you guys SO much for the advice!!! 😁

I took the Lake Shore Limited from NYC to Chicago last summer, and I was lucky enough to have a roomette from which I could see the Hudson. Glorious views! I really liked the Metropolitan Lounge at the Moynihan Train Center. I had a bite to eat on the balcony - great for people watching. And the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Here's a way to save a few hundred dollars on a private bedroom - take Amtrak from NYC to Washington DC in the morning, then the overnight train from DC to Chicago. No joke, the price is a few hundred dollars lower than the direct NYC to Chicago route. I did that last year and I enjoyed two hours at Washington's National Gallery of Art during the interval between train trips.

12:42 _ I've ridden the Lake Shore Limited From Boston To Chicago, but I never knew about the Status Feature on the Amtrak App. This is really Nice! 👍👍👍

Allie and Rob, you have to promise that on the next journey on Empire Service or Lake Shore Limited, you mention Rochester and Buffalo, 2 great cities on the Great Lakes Ontario and Erie! Great bike trails all the way from Albany along the Erie Canal to Buffalo:_sun:

When I saw platform 9 and 10 first thing came to mind was 9 and 3/quarters 😂
  • I have to stop the video midway through, because my husband and I are waiting to get on the Zephyr EB. Our first train journey! We have a roommette. I don't want to miss any announcements. BTW, this station is packed!

First time I am riding in a roomette, and this is the exact train I will be on so this was great! I keep forgetting to redeem my lounge pass so not having to do that in NY will be awesome, since I'll get access with the sleeper ticket.

I just took the Lakeshore Limited from NY to Chicago earlier this month. I took the Acela from DC early and spent the day in NY. The metropolitan lounge was a great place to store my luggage while I spent the day in the city. I’m jealous you had a viewliner 2. Both the sleeper cars on my train were viewliner 1s. We had a brand new dining car which was really nice and which I enjoyed. We unfortunately had a 5 hour delay due to a freight train mishap but that was not in Amtrak’s control. Allie - I hope your recovery is going well.
