Toyota EV planning checklist: - make it one of the slowest charging EVs at launch. - give it the least range. - make it among the slowest EVs - give it no frunk. - don't even give it a glovebox. - put guages in awkward location - give it hideous black cladding - keep price inline with the best EVs.

Toyota deserves every bit of criticism in this video. I love to see it.
  • @KyleConner
Video quality almost as bad as my voice until YouTube processes this thing in the next hour or so!

It’s amazing how a company so good at hybrid drive trains is so bad at BEV ones. Like shouldn’t be that big of an engineering gap.
  • @cabruin98
If Toyota continues this level of dedication with their EV offerings, we can be certain Toyota will join the ranks of Kodak, Blackberry and Nokia. 😢

It's almost like Toyota wants to make bev's look bad... oh wait, they actually DO try to do that
  • @broosewee
Sacrificing your voice for the content. That's dedication! Get well soon dude.

Charging specs, range and reviews are why I cancelled my order for a BZ4X and bought a Kia EV6.
  • @TeslaRyan
All the other companies are out there are making "Tesla killers" and here Toyota is making a "Bolt killer" at the price of a Tesla 🤣
  • @LearningFast
Hope you feel better soon Kyle. Boy, you sounded rough in this video. Thanks for bringing us such great content even when you aren’t feeling optimal.

If you look up "Designed by committee", that dash has to be mentioned?

The Ariya doesn’t have this limit Kyle. Drove from Seattle to Denver and back last weekend and on the way back had 4 charges in a day. It wasn’t slow (granted wasn’t super fast) but it was consistently around the 129-132 Kw mark till the pack hit 50 or so and then tapers slowly.
  • @joshwillis7939
Would love to see you do this with the EV6 or Ioniq 5.
  • @sunnyzhang7475
Now you are talking Kyle. 0-100% curve doesn't mean anything, charging speed doesn't mean anything, it's all about how many miles I can regain during my 15 min pit stop. Take Aptera for example, it charges only at 50KW, but because it's soooooo efficient, 15 min would regain around 150 miles. And since it only need 50KW charger, all of a sudden my charging options are greatly extended, sometimes even a level 2 would do. I think this 15 min charging test is what matters the most for those serious mileage eaters.

Please continue this. Much more relevant to us than 0-100% tests. Yikes to Toyota, I used to drive Toyotas, not again with this performance, I’m happy I went with the Kia EV6.
  • @vwrick32
The fully-charged range test is great, but this test is the most applicable to the every day electric car owner. Thanks very much for running these, Kyle! 😁👍

Why would you spend that much money when you can get a Bolt EUV for almost $20K less with comparable charging speeds. I rather save $20K and charge at 45-55 Kwh.
