Whenever SJB doesnt call me something at the beginning of his video, I enter a deep depression.
  • I'm surprised you didn't use a Superstorm Druid, seems on theme after listening to your story. Glad you're safe, and thanks for the video!
  • @rick809
I think you're the first person to ever say the words "I feel bad for the insurance companies"
  • My main takeaway from this video isn't anything to do with the M.A.D., but rather that Captain Churchill is the worst hero ever
  • @galaxyrend
My girlfriend lives in Chicago so it was funny hearing you recap a situation I also heard about last night while talking to her lol
  • Is it just me or have the videos background music been slightly to loud to hear Chris? 😅
  • @roccos9777
YES! I also live in Chicagoland. Glad to hear everyone was safe.
  • @Blakedg98
Worked so hard to get a MAD that only half works…
  • As someone who is also in the area of these tornados and crap, I concur that it has been an interesting few days!
  • Yeah, in Joliet it was quite a sight to behold. I think derechos are really incredible to witness and very intimidating to experience firsthand. Glad you were safe!
  • I was also a part of said storm, the wind was so bad they had to get snow plows to push trash out of the road.
  • I was actually tracking the storms that hit Chicagoland well into the night on July 15th. That day was trippy. [skip this below if you hate nerdy talk] To give a sort of synoptic breakdown, you have a bonified "derecho" day. A derecho is basically a column of wind, hail, and spin-up tornadoes that travel for 400 miles or longer, and usually have hurricane wind gusts (74mph+) during it's lifespan. From about 3pm to 2am, the derecho moved from the Cedar Rapids area to the Fort Wayne area before rapidly weakening due to the effects of multi-directional shear (which is when different wind speeds with height move in different directions, usually perpendicular to the boundary). Derechos usually need extreme instability, coupled with a temperature/dewpoint spread and dry air aloft, which supports the growth of significant wind. Shearing should also be unidirectional, and usually following the boundary to get a linear mode (or when storms form into a line). You had that thermodynamic and kinematic profile, which supported significant wind and spin-up tornadoes. While the worst of the effects were felt in the Davenport area, Chicagoland was also hit hard, with sustained wind gusts of like, 70 to 80mph with multiple weak spin-up tornadoes in the city. It was chaotic, but at least it wasn't as bad as how the models were predicting. I'm glad you're ok SJB. Everyone in the weather community that day was going wild over the entire situation.

Keep it up SJB with these amazing uploads you are really underrated😊
  • SJB! Would you be willing to do a video on your top 5 ideas for paragons they could theoretically add to the game? What towers deserve a paragon?
  • @razors98
Maybe building solver before the mad woulda been an easier mid game XD
  • Ya we got hit with the same storm in central Illinois. The wind here was super strong luckily I cut all the trees down around my house neighbors were not so lucky
  • So at 15 minutes in, SJB started struggling with ceramics and bought a maelstrom. I'll never understand why he avoids stall. Ice is great against ceramics. Glue is good. Ninja or super monkey knockback is respectable.
