So, here's the deal right. I had no idea that this Miraculous Ladybug comic existed. And my god. It really does suck. Like, seriously. Kind of garbage in so many ways. Shoutout to a reddit post I saw with a panel from this comic. It got me on the scent... my god haha. No wonder it was cancelled. Seriously, you have to see it to believe it.

There’s something ironic with Fu stating that there are no “cruel” kwamis cause people aren’t like that, whilst Thomas is hellbent on a fictional 15 year old girl being the spawn of Satan and incapable of being good

We as a fandom don’t consider these awful comics canon. Especially Thomas denying Marinette being naked in NY & accusing a black family on smuggling her. I’m glad most people don’t know about it. The manga we got is better & respects the characters to make them grow

So French is IMO definitely a quickie joke. The stereotype is that French people are very amorous. "Language of love" "city of love" "French kissing" etc...

10:00 "Is French people being horny a stereotype in America?" Is it not everywhere? Pepelapu is literally just THE french man stereotype in its purest form.

Actual lost media?! I actually remember seeing parts of it and a huge debate started.. not surprising

I read this comics online a few years ago. Yeah it's not really surprising because Thomas Astruc did both the writing and story credit. Plus, Marinette and Adrian (who are 14 or 15) were half naked in one of those comic books too. How that comic got approved is beyond me.

I’m pretty sure that these comics aren’t canon to the show, so that explains some of the inaccuracies. Also, what in the actual fuck was the justification for having a minor walking around naked in this comic?!

Marinette being naked is made worse by the fact that they had Chloe steal her clothes, and for some reason retcon her T-shirt and such that you pointed out, just so she can be naked. Normally a detail like that wouldn't matter, but in this case it does! What does this even add to the comic? What is the actual justification? Look, this kinda stuff might have it's place somewhere, but with adults only. When you do this with minors, it just becomes weird and creepy. Also they didn't do the same thing to Adrien?? Do you smell that??
  • "There's an evil murderous kwami out there" you mean Plague? Does fit the description to me since he is the destruction kwami

The fact that they never went over the lore of the kwamis outside of this comic is so aggravating.

About Marinette running nude across New York, I think it's the comic doing the classic, but understandably awkward cartoon trope where a character runs around naked in public and trying not to get seen by someone. The best example I could provide is The Fairly OddParents episode, "Crime Wave", where Timmy runs around in Dimmsdale naked after wishing to be at the local comic book store. It also included a subplot where the Crimson Chin must battle against H2Olga while also babysitting. So, that's all I could explain, but it still doesn't stop this trope from being super awkward in the comics (I'm trying to avoid using the overused word), especially since Miraculous Ladybug uses semi-detailed, semi-realistic designs for their characters.

When you brought up naked marinette it was like unlocking a memory I didn’t realize existed. I remember stumbling across a few of those pages on Pinterest years ago. I thought it was a fan comic that was gonna go somewhere else, if ya know what I mean. I never bothered to look for the full thing.

The funniest thing is that many black people pointed out to Thomas and he banned them because they were bad haters
  • I’m pretty sure that the “SoOo FrEnCh” joke is about how doing something like going out to eat in France it’s basically more polite for eating to take more time, to the point where I know at least some schools there give an hour for lunch time. This is why the not Justice League is like “they’re SoOo FrEnCh” when Ladybug & Cat Noir ask for 10 minutes for themselves. Even with the supposed context, it still doesn’t really work as a joke IMO.
