When we saw the Lord Raven Halloween animatronic from Spirit Halloween (new for 2022), we immediately fell in love. His design was so unique! We ordered him almost 2 months ago, and after a long journey of getting lost in the mail twice, he finally arrived.

Lord Raven, from the Spirit Halloween 2022 collection, was easy to setup. His animatronic motion is really cool! His arms/wings flap, his head moves in and out, his eyes glow red, and his long beak talks about how he and his crows will pick your bones clean.

After our Home Depot Witch makeover and our Spirit Sitting Scarecrow makeover, we were feeling pretty confident that we could tackle our biggest Halloween prop makeover yet. We gave him an entirely new dark sorcerer costume, accessories, and lightweight foam black feather wings (inspired by the DIY Feather wings from Stiltbeast Studios!).

We are SO HAPPY with how Lord Raven turned out! This Halloween animatronic is the perfect addition to our 2022 Halloween decor and he would make a scary Halloween prop addition to any haunted house or Halloween yard display.

If you love Halloween DIY projects and want to see more of our DIY Halloween prop upgrades, check out our Spirit Halloween Empty Soul Girl on a Swing makeover. We also have a ton of other Halloween projects and Halloween decorations on our channel!

Thanks for watching! Want to join our community on Discord/Facebook? Links in Video Description! You can also find links to all the stuff we used in the description as well. Happy Haunting!
  • Using artificial plants as feathers is just genius! I'm definitely keeping that in my diy memory bank!
  • @shawhain
Spirit needs to hire you guys as designers because you make their bland animatronics absolutely incredible.
  • @SergeiMosin
One of the best things I've found for black wings is to use a gloss black base coat, a heavy iridescent blue layer in random stripes, and then just a light pass of the final black coat. Iridescent blue under the black catches the light passing through the "feathers" and makes it almost glow with what looks like natural moonlight coming through the gaps and the thin areas of the material.
  • The secondary movement of his arms not being super stiff kinda makes it feel like he's even more real! He's super cool out of box but I feel like his arm/wings are kinda awkward and this is a solution that makes him creepy but also beautiful in a way! So cool!
  • The wings are terrific! And yes, I'd like to see the staff video! EDIT: Thanks for the "before and after" pictures! It's cool to see just how much better your version is!
  • @umi4808
the wings turned out absolutely perfect!! and the fact that you guys got them to move too is the cherry on top of it all. amazing work 🎃!
  • @sabriel_
I'm working at Spirit Halloween this year and you guys are seriously tempting me to spend all my paycheck just getting animatronics that won't fit in my tiny apartment. I'm an illustrator / painter and this is making me want to do some super detailed paint jobs and makeovers on some decorations.

Amazing!! Here in Brazil, we don't celebrate Halloween, it's not a holiday, but in last 10 years, the Halloween culture has grown a lot here, and many people have themed parties in their homes! Unfortunately, we don't have Trick or Treat, we just do themed parties! My family decorates the house every year and I always make my own props in real size; Last year I made a cauldron like the that you guys did. I'll try to make a Lord Raven like yours, of course, it won't be an animatronic (because we don't have animatronics for sale here), but it will be like a statue!! Many thanks for those amazing videos!
  • @stevebor1
I love how candid and semi unscripted you guys are. When I DIY, I learn along the way like you.
  • @poltgoob9218
I think this is by far my favorite one you guys have decorated. It's so stunning to watch as well, because you see this magnificent animatronic leave it's box, and it's already looking great and it has you wonder, "how are they going to improve on this?" but I SAW THE THUMBNAIL AND I WAS JUST WAITING FOR IT! It looked so good by the end... (and I'm glad the mullet didn't make a return, it looked too much like me when I was a teenager)
  • These new animatronic makeovers are seriously some of the best halloween related videos that have been out recently
  • I love him! He kinda looks like a skeksis, mixed with a tengu. Your projects always make me want to fancy up my own halloween decorations/spoopy room décor.
  • @pudgealicious
The way the arms still kinda move is so perfect. I'd love to see a video about making a staff or if there was anything else yall wanted to add to him, he's great!
  • @quinncy.
love how you gave lord raven some real tangible character! that's what i love so much about these makeovers. you don't just improve something, but make it have a personality. they all look like they've got some serious stories to tell! phenomenal work!👏 edit: not saying it doesn't look good to begin with; love that the animatronics keep improving! the details on lord raven's face and hands are really really nice!
  • @throneisbed7833
I'll be honest, the new Lord Raven gives me the vibe of he was once a nobleman, but for whatever reason (power? riches? immortality?) turned to the dark arts, the magic growing viler with time as his search continues. He shows his face less and less, fearful that people may see what this is turning him into. Until eventually, he's so far removed from his own humanity, he has no choice but to exile himself to the dark forest.
  • @quinncy.
Found a way to describe your transformations without unintentionally dragging Spirit Halloween down lol! I consider the fresh product like a newborn. It’s creepy in its own right. What you do, is age it up. You give the item years to its life so that it looks like it has stories to tell.😊🖤
  • I just found your channel and have been binge watching this morning. You two have given me some great ideas! I was looking forward to seeing what you did with LORD RAVEN so can't wait to watch! 😃 Keep up the great work! 👻🎃💀
  • @WillRipamonti
That. Was. AWESOME! One of your best makeovers! I'm totally down to see the big glowing staff too!
