  • I appreciate everything you do with your curriculum! It's my absolute favorite! Deep down, it bothers me when people ask so many questions on groups about when and how long until updates are done. I don't think many people realize it's JUST YOU doing this, not a whole team of people. And that makes me appreciate the curriculum even more! It makes it better in my opinion. 💕
  • Definitely take care of yourself, it is so important! I think a lot of people don't realize how much work small businesses put in, and I was typing this up just as you started saying it in the video. 😂 But lots of people just don't have that insight into just how much work goes into this stuff when we don't have a team, it's just us handling every aspect of the business. I run my own art business and I can't tell you how many times I've had to explain this myself. I'm a mom, I homeschool, I have a home to take care of and I also run my business, from painting, to packaging and shipping, contracts and agreements, customer service and troubleshooting, accounting, website building and maintenance and so on. I love the work, always, but it does take time. 😂 Basically, I am so grateful for all the work you put in to make such a great curriculum. Because of the work you did on all the levels I am saving that time so we can just sink in and enjoy good books and I have time to paint. 😁 I also think that a lot of people really enjoy behind the scenes, I know they do for my business and art; so videos like this are awesome even if you're just discussing potentials or books that don't make it in. It is fascinating to get a look at just how much you do and your thought process behind it all. 😁 But I also know how much work recording and editing is. 😂 If only we had eight more arms and more hours in the day. Basically thanks for all you do and share, you're awesome and I hope you get some good family time and rest, you deserve it!

Oh, Emily! Please take a break and allow yourself to enjoy it. Enjoy the time you have with your family. I'm sure I don't speak for everyone 🤣 but good grief, you've provided SO much, and if some of of us have to start a level without an update, we'll live. ;-) Thank you so much for all that you do. 💙
  • Also, my 11 year old daughter said A Wrinkle in Time was one of her all time favorite books. It’s always fascinating seeing how differently people respond to books.
  • @OsmosisMom
With eight kids and running a business myself (ngo), yes, know all about pressure! I add carrots to my life and focus on the next step in order to keep my stress levels down and have something to look forward to! I am also sending off twins to college (they came home freshman year, all traumatized and stressed due to covid), but they are ready to go! Definitely take care of yourself and get through that nagging sense of burn-out so you can feel refreshed! P.S. I hired a person for all the non-creative needs and that helped me take work to a different level and gave me time to do nothing/read/hang out on youtube!!
  • As someone who has been using BYL since 2015, it’s pained me a bit to see people complaining about slow updates in groups. I don’t think newer homeschoolers realized you do it all by yourself. The quality is so high that it’s hard to believe. I’m glad you made this explicit in the video. Please take care of yourself. I’m using Level 7 as written and it’s fantastic. I even finally found 52 Days by Camel for a good price.

We are enjoying level 6 this school year. Already bought level 7 for next year and it looks super! Thank you for the Cyber Sale. Had to get some unit studies as well. 😉
  • I only learned about this curriculum in the last couple months. I have been very impressed with what I’ve learned so far and I just wanted to pop in and say take care of yourself! I know it’s easy to get burnout and I hope you take care of you!!
  • @kimcampoli6538
As someone who's been blessed by your videos, and as one homeschooling mom to another, sending a hug. Take some time with no guilt. If your updates are coming out a little later than you'd like, in the scope of things it's only a few months.
  • @DinoReader
Taking time makes absolute sense <3 I hope you're being kind to yourself. As someone that's been in it over a decade, well done that takes longer is sooooo much better than just busted out whatever to meet a deadline. You've done such an amazing job with all these levels in what's honestly a short amount of time. It's remarkable to me that you've done all 12 levels, unit studies, and several updates to make things in just the 10 years I've been homeschooling. You're awesome. Don't forget it.
  • @mikithompson745
Even though I am not homeschooling anymore I still always watch the videos for book ideas. ♥️
  • @MarciYoseph
Thank you for the update! I switched halfway through year 5 when that update was available and it was amazing! I know level 7 will be worth the wait. ❤ Enjoy time with your family.
  • What you accomplish just by yourself is amazing! It's a go-to for secular homeschool families. Enjoy time with your family and getting your kids set up at college. Then take a nice big break for yourself and family.
  • Thanks for the update! We found ByL for high school so I’m in agony waiting on level 8&9. I’m sure waaaay more people are desperate for the lower levels though. I actually bought level 7 because I already had material world and hungry planet and needed you to tell how/when yo use it. We’ve just noted in the geography book “don’t forget this is 2006, so this may have shifted.” I feel like we had OLD textbooks in public school so I think we all have always learned somewhat outdated info. I’m going to take a deep breath and roll with it. 9th year of homeschooling, youngest starting 1st…I’m finally ready to embrace the freedom and ditch being chained to the timeline of public school.
  • @Ghostlynscrptn
We are doing level 7 this year! Thank you for all the work you've put in! <3 It is so appreciated!
  • @FourByTwo
Thanks for the update! I looooved From Here to Eternity (right up my alley), but I agree that it will probably fit better in a high school level. Can’t wait to see what L7 ends up looking like! We will be doing a unit study while we wait on it. 🙂 Enjoy your time with family and RECHARGE! ❤️
  • So thankful for all of your hard work! I'm so glad to have so many amazing secular resources to pull from! Please enjoy your break and get the rest that you need to come back! We would miss you much more if you burnt out and didn't come back!!
  • @velmag583
Every time I think I’m going to “just do it myself” … I always go back to that saying “you don’t need to reinvent the wheel.” 😍 I’m sure I’ll add to BYL but your schedule of books is amazing and I’m excited to hear that SOTW is swapped out.
  • @lisasegorski
So excited for the updates! Your book choices are always amazing. Always amazed at all that you do. I'd rather wait and know you had time to find the best than you having to rush. Enjoy time with your family :)
  • These all look like great books and I am excited to see what gets added. There is a lot of buzz about 'can't wait for the update ', but honestly, I am so happy to sit tight and wait because I am amazed at the work going in to keeping levels current and having diverse books! That is not the typical for a lot of curriculum options out there, so thank you for all the hard work and time your are investing.
