My Profile:
www.mattstefanfishing.com/

I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for six MLF Championships and won roughly a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

Matt, if you want to reduce your hardware on this rig, look up the dropper loop knot. It’s something I learned from saltwater bait fishing with multiple hooks. Tie the dropper loop, cut one end of the loop close to the knot and bang, you’ve got a swivel-less T rig drop shot. I use it for casting and drop swimming small swimbaits and it prevents spooking smallmouth with the swivel while sight fishing. I don’t find twist to be an issue personally

Just want to say thank you for taking the time to help us with catching more bass
  • Love the idea. It's similar to the Japanese style tracer rigs, but with significantly less line twist. I like the idea of using it in current or like a modified c-rig. Another great idea and solid video. Thanks Matt and keep sticking them in the tournament, you got this one!
  • Awesome tip Matt!!!!! Definitely gonna be trying this very soon. Thanks for always sharing your tips and knowledge
  • I'm going to combine this with your video on wind driven current up shallow! Love your tips and the style of your videos!

It's just a three way rig, not a drop shot but very similar. It's common for trolling or bank fishing for walleyes and stripped bass in fast moving water. It's very common in saltwater techniques but they tie it without swivels. I've been using it for ages, very common in the Midwest and fast moving water other places.

Great idea, perfect for casting and slow dragging on the bottom.

Excellent idea! I already have some T swivels from forever ago, now I know what to use them for!
  • I tried this a few years ago because it was a weird bite one day. I got the idea from how we rig our catfishing rods. I’m really glad to see you’ve had the same idea and had success with it. I caught a couple fish on it one day but wasn’t consistent so I chalked it up as a one off but I’ll have to try it again. Thanks for these videos.

Interesting concept there Matt. Drop shop is my ultimate confidence lure, so I'm going to have to give this a try. ✌🏻🎣

You had me “hooked” at drop shot ! 😂😂 Pretty cool idea Matt and thanks for the share !!
  • Great tip, Matt! Dropshot is my #1 confidence bait. This is a nice 'twist' on the original DS. Very similar to the double fluke rig. Thanks for sharing! Really appreciate all your videos. Now my favorite channel!
  • Great video! I've always used a VMC spinshot hook to minimize line twists but I definitely see that this technique offers several other advantages. Keep up the awesome content because tips like these will help take my drop shot game to the next level!
  • Killer tip Matt. Thanks for sharing this with us. Can’t wait to try this one out. Thanks again from Western Kentucky.

Feedback: a while back you did a 3 most underrated lakes video, Lanier was one of em. I was just starting to get serious about trying to be on the water at least twice a week back then but wasn’t sure where to focus. Your video convinced me to focus on Lanier I have had the time of my life learning that lake ever since. Those spots want to take your rod from you, like for real! The fight the put up is so fun. I now know the southern 2/3rds of Lanier like the back of my hand and looking forward to learning where the next season will push the fish to. Thanks so much Matt!!!
