Please help me understand? Barbara is recounting the story of Jesus working with wood as a carpenter . How does this fit with what He actually did? He was a tekton, a worker of stone masonry. The word carpenter is actually a mistranslation of the greek word, which should be tekton. You have to take the Jewish culture into consideration as well as the fact that people lived in houses made from stone. Jesus or anyone working with wood could not make a living because trees were a very scarce commodity . Stick to the Bible narrative , research for yourselves how people lived back then and what they did for a living.
