What happens if you take a professional video game exploiter and pay them to break an up and coming strategy game. Well the boffins over at paradox interactive decided that I should become a paid QA tester and push their game to the limits. Of Course this meant I discovered infinite gold exploits, teleportation exploits, god mode glitches and the ability to complete a science victory in the first turn of the game. All pretty standard behaviour for a pro exploiter like the spiffing brit!

If you enjoyed the new 4x Civilization like strategy game then you can check out millennia here: millennia.paradoxinteractive.com/thespiffingbrit
the tagline is simple: Create your own nation in Millennia, a historical turn-based 4X game that challenges your strategic prowess across 10,000 years of history, from the dawn of humanity to our possible futures.

Game devs are realizing that spiff doesn't only promote your game but he also makes quality control. Perfectly balanced.

"Im gonna force march and move my units around behind the german line" Germany- you dare use my own spells against me potter?
  • @TheGrimKleaper
Beginning with exploits. Ending with an AC130 bombing the French. Truly perfection
  • @PierceArner
Spend money to make money, but in this case — the money is violence and the violence also cures you so long as you have the most violence. Spifftastic!
  • @clericofchaos1
This isn't the first time Paradox specifically has hired Spiff to break their games. They get promotion, quality control, and tea. It's really a perfectly balanced scenario for them.

Soldiers: "We like dis Emperor... We will pay him to be his army!"
  • For those curious for a real world history comparison. By the time Spiff is using early WWII bombers in 1520, in the real world of 1520, King Henry VIII was only 29 years old and was still married to his first wife. That is an insane leap forwards in tech.

I always love seeing a game dev decide to hire spiff, they probably get a massive work load to fix bugs and glitches after he’s done with it.
  • @dekopuma
14:40 "War, what is it good for? Well, the economy is doing well" is such a sad, accurate statement.
  • @Mors_deus
I saw the anti kleper play this and then saw your video and knew I HAD to watch you break it
  • @micahphilson
The devs benefit hard from sponsorships like this. They paid Spiff for one video, and in turn found several dozen features they didn't in their own playtesting! I wish devs did stuff like this more often!

5:10 Spiff breaking the game by summoning Bronze Age Collapse sounds...rather historically fitting, for once.
  • @CED99
Other youtubers - age of blood sounds bad, let's avoid it Spiff - Hard turn towards age of blood, that sounds fantastic!
  • @TheCrosshare
While actual QA professionals are a resource that are woefully underappreciated and undervalued(most the time), shipping your game to Spiff to be broken is just a smart thing to do in any case :D And if you happen to make a game that Spiff can't exploit, well, that would certainly be a box cover note better than any "X gave it 10/10".

“Violence isn’t the answer, it is the question. The answer is yes.”
  • @timothy5480
This is a great move you get QA bug testing and advertisement at the same time, Ai isn't stealing jobs this perfectly balanced man is
  • @ryaku5
I love the fact that you are not afraid to use the adjective 'silly'. Such a good word that is rarely spoken these days.
