Omg for years after my divorce I had to deal with this and I couldn't figure it out what was wrong with me. Thank you for this, this video has helped me more than going to counseling for 6 months.
  • Childhood trauma from observing an abusive parent abusing the other can trigger anxiety; I'm so glad I found your tutorial, the explanation is quite helpful. Encouraging talk therapy, Self expression and articulating feelings is very important as well as presenting reality. REST ( Reduce environmental stimulation therapy) is excellent by e.g Tai Chi as well as by guided imagery. Thank you very much.

From my experience with anxiety and undiagnosed BPD: 1) Reduce or eliminate caffeine and stimulants (like nicotine). If you must drink caffeine, have two small doses within four hours of waking up. Caffeine has a 12 hour quarter-life, which means drinking 4 cups of coffee at 10am leaves 1 entire cup in your system at 10pm! Caffeine anxiety and psychosis are REAL! Other stimulants like nicotine can make you feel constantly afraid and worried. (I believe many people on psych meds have undiagnosed caffeine psychosis, but most counselors and psychiatrists miss this obvious connection.) 2) Exercising vigorously for 30 to 45 minutes per day will reduce your anxiety from "unbearable" to "unpleasant, but manageable." Walking hilly terrain works best for me. 3) Practice mindfulness and slow, deep breathing. Realize that you may be experiencing "Transient Stress-Related Paranoid Ideations." If you have BPD, stressful situations may cause you to panic and think "Worst-case scenario" for hours or days. This is probably leftover from traumatic and confusing childhood experiences. Realizing that your anxiety was triggered by sudden, stressful event can help you calm down and understand that there is no monster under the bed.
  • Always struggled with social anxiety, got the feeling people wouldn’t get close to me because they thought I didn’t like them, I just wanted genuine acceptance
  • Dr Snipes. Thank you. For your empathy and your intelligence without arrogance. You are clearly trying o capture, help and explain the most complex and enormous range of symptoms but with understanding and humanity and taking a holistic view. This to me indicates real intelligence along with compassion. I’m glad you failed calculus and moved into this sphere to find your calling!
  • This is my favorite channel, I love your content and how you explain everything! I love how you are honest and vulnerable enough to give examples based on your own personal experience. I statements are so important in relating material and you are obviously very aware of that. I appreciate you! Thanks 😊
  • As a new licensed practicing social worker, working in a counseling department, this is SO useful. A majority of my clients struggle with Anxiety. Thank you for this perfectly detailed and useful information.
  • One session having acupuncture helped greatly reduce fibromyalgia pain.

Love you. It's easy to see how you genuinely care for helping others. Bless you.
  • I am so glad you explain how the medication works vs don't work. I enjoyed your lecture.
  • This presentation is one of the most complete, concise & well spoken videos I’ve ever seen... Thank you...

As a prescriber, I can attest that she is 100% correct regarding the meds.

This video is really good. I know that peri menopause is causing me this bad anxiety.
  • I suffer from GAD and OCD this is my first time watching this, and honestly, I don't think I need medicine, I just need CBT. I feel so much less anxious after hearing this than medicine ever made me feel. I always felt like medicine really only MAKES you think your less anxious but really your anxious about "what if the medicine stops working" "what if the side effects start" I don't like the idea of depending on a pill made in a lab. After watching this.. I fell when you're not on medicine, you feel 100% in control of your own mind because you know there is no chemicals messing with your brain except for what your own body produced. A lot of anxiety is the idea that you're alone and NO ONE in the entire world feels the way you do or understands and aren't even taking you seriously. But after watching this... I know i'm not alone. In fact, I know people out there suffer even worse than I do. I will definitely start doing CBT as often as possible.

  • I'm like that with tornados. I'm from ca, having never been around them before moving to KY was hell for me, all day and night I worried we would be hit. We eventually had to move, to a state that has had 1 tornado in its history. I feel a million billion times better.
