  • Someone is trying to get on the VP ticket.
  • All of a sudden Gavin cares about crime?? Someone wants to be president.
  • Bhahahahaha how about you make stiffer penalties for breaking laws and actually enforce them.....
  • "Letting too many criminals go unpunished"......imagine that, judges?
  • Interesting, the Mayor can fire the Police Chief but can't direct the Police Chief to change policy.
  • Ok newsom, now all of a sudden you care -_-
  • How about Newsome just make a statewide law making this mandatory instead of just placing the responsibility on the cities and towns. Not going to do it because he is more interested in just making himself look good.

What happened to the national guard gavin sent. And why hasn’t the area applied for funds
  • Knowing something is wrong and letting it go down is neglect.anytime a seripus situatuon is used as a reason to change the law i get suspicious
  • Council members should not be out cleaning the streets- you should be looking for long term solutions to all of our problems. He is should work for OPWs or WM because he is part of the problem.
  • Where is the family of the people who were killed while they chased. Or families..
  • @GhostPrime21
whats the point if they just get released within 24hrs

See, here's the REAL problem: nobody is asking THE CITIZENRY OF OAKLAND WHAT THEY WANT. Nobody is letting the citizenry look at or decide what police policy and procedure are. Instead, the cops write their own rules, and some city council members maybe give a glance at the new policies then sign off on them, en masse. Nobody is asking the governed, from whose consent, all authority are duly derived, what they actually consent to. How about we start there?
  • You mean soft-on-crime policies don't work? Imagine my shock! 😱
  • If or WHEN the forklift goes tgrough the wall, you'd think maybe the OPD has a chance to flatten tires on / blockade / put a tack strip behind the cars that pulled up with it & disgorged a mob of robbers into the store-- if, as the story tells, the police were "right there". Much less dangerous than a chase.
