a Kyle Le Doc.
Life in Vietnam is constantly an adventure. A day prior someone from America contacted me about finding her long lost sister in Long An. So I took some friends and we went to look for this person who hasn't heard from her sister for over 10 years. I didn't have much information, but nevertheless, it was fun to engage with countryside people. Sometimes, they get a bad reputation in the city, but honestly, countryside people are the nicest people you'll meet in Vietnam. Everyone was so supportive and happy to help. Eventually, with a lot of luck, I did find the sister and reunited them via the phone.

Good stuff! Reminded me when I went looking for my uncle whom I haven't seen in 23 hears. No address, pot hole ridden dirt roads, dead end roads, etc. Had to stop and ask every half mile. But persistence paid off. Finally found him. He is my Dad's older brother and looked and talked, joked just like my Dad. We connected instantly and filled with joy! lol

I love how in every South East Asian country, we can feel a sense of familiarity, some places looked exactly like Indonesia.

I’ve already watched 3 videos and I’m just sitting here crying, but they are happy tears for these families. Love these emotional stories, especially considering all the bad news you have to see everyday. Very uplifting. Theses videos pull at my heart strings.

I’m adopted and I often wonder if my birth mother is dead or if my family is dead or maybe they forgot me. It makes me cry sometimes but I also have an amazing family right now, so that cheers me up.
  • I am Vietnamese-American living in the states. My mom is looking for her dad (my grandfather) or more then likely the remains of her dad. He served in ARVN in the 1st Corp Ranger during the war, so he was never home. My mom doesn't even know what my grandfather even looks like. My grandfather did hold my mom as a baby though when he got a chance to return home from service. Most likely he died in the mountains of Da Nang when US warships fired shells during ground fire support. It most likely a friendly fire, and it killed him along with other American soldiers that he fighting alongside. The only hope of finding his remains is through DNA. They are still discovering remains every year. It's much harder to find someone's remains, but my parent have invested in tens of thousands of dollars into finding his remains and bringing him to his village for burial. Have you come across stories like that living in Vietnam? I'm thinking about helping her end her mission of searching for her dad. It's been 5 years, but I believe the people who they hired her are scammers or just don't know what they're doing. I'm going to have to try to look for some old ARVN documents somehow. If they're not destroyed after the war, then there's a chance her dad's photography could still be around and information. Any suggestions?

She has a pair of eyes and black hair? Well that narrows it down Lool
  • A vast landscape with no landmarks. I'm reminded of Missouri, near Kentucky. Flat as far as you can see. I would have given up. Everyone had the same description: dark eyes and black hair. Good job finding her.
