Walther should never discontinue the P99!

I have a Gen 2 bought in 2014. Absolutely outstanding pistol. Too often, the multimode aspects of the trigger are criticized rather than appreciated. Also rarely mentioned is the extremely short slide rack needed to go from DA to SA - only about 1/10 inch and depending on the holster can be done without drawing the weapon, as well as de-cocking while still in holster. About only things I'd like to change is the trigger shoe shape and the sights - which I've done. They're now tritium Big-dot with the single rear dot and v-notch.

This is my all time favorite. I finally acquired one after about 15 years here in California. Made in 2021 or 2022 in all black. I can’t believe I’m the first one posting. This is an awesome gun. Thank you for the review.

The P99 was my first full-sized pistol and after 20yrs it is still my absolute favorite and will never leave me. It has never failed me. There are newer designs and features, but it was way ahead of it's time and IMO with the AS feature it is still relevant to me

Nice! I got an SW99 in .40 S&W. The trigger is the best!

My P99 AS fits the One Shot brace perfectly, and Mounting Solutions Plus sells a dovetail RMR mount, I have a Surefire TLR-8G and an Outlaw light bearing holster with belt loops, all make it relevant. Walther got it right 28 years ago.

Thanks for the very entertaining Range test of what is now a classic Walther design. Love the P99 AS and wish Walther would keep it in production. I have the first Generation P99 AS and it's my favorite CCW. Teya should shoot a P99 AS or a Canik TP9DA for her next Video!

I developed athsmsa in my late 30s. I started smoking hemp flower,( not marijuana), in my mid 60s. In 4 years, I've used my inhaler 2 times as apposed to almost daily before. And I'm only talking about a very small amount of hemp daily. In fact , I've used the hemp to stop oncoming asthma attacks, which are rare now. Sounds counterintuitive, but it works .

I'm like you and prefer the paddle style mag ejection lever. I owned a Walther PPS, gen1, in 40s&w. The mag release was more comfortable to use than a button in my experience. Now, the PPS in 40s&w I had to sell due to the nerve damage I have in my strong hand. That small pistol was extremely snappy in that caliber. I've looked for one in 9mm and haven't come across one other than the gen2. I'm not a fan of the gen2 with the cut on the dust cover. I preferred that blocky look of the gen1 instead. I just ordered a P99 and am excited for it to get here.

I agree with you, Walthers are not snappy. It shouldn't be for a man. I love the Walther P99, PPQ, and PDP line-up. This one is a classic jewel of a handgun. I own the Walther P99 AS, and its replica: the Canik TP9 DA. Excellent review, GB! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I got the Magnum Research mr9 eagle 4 1/2 in. Love that gun. Probably be worth something because they are discontinued now. But boy is that trigger fantastic. Anybody that doesn't know about that one it's basically a P99 on the bottom and a desert eagle on top 9 mm.❤❤
