If anyone says, "Yes, gurl! Trust me!" - dont trust it.

She was an employee of that company at that time, and is legally required to act in good faith as an agent for that leasing agency. She accepted the payments as a representative of the company and provided them receipts. Once that transaction was completed, the tennent's rent was legally paid. Any competent judge would throw this eviction out on it's face because legally, this is really a case of theft between the leasing agency and their ex-employee. She didn't steal from the tennents. She stole from the complex.

As a landlord, I never heard of offering half off rent all of a sudden.
-
I'M GLAD THAT THOSE WOMEN ARE STANDING UP FOR THEMSELVES! IT PAYS TO KNOW THE LAW AS A RENT PAYING TENANT.
-
If anything the corporate office should be working with the tenants against the employee not evicting them they were both scammed.
-
If the leasing agent was an employee, that’s an internal issue.
-
The owners need to be going after their leasing agent, not the tenants. They paid like they were supposed to and none of this is their fault.

As a landlord, this is absolutely ridiculous!!!! The landlord(s) should be apologizing to the tenants and even offering them some kind of real discount knowing damn well they are responsible for hiring a bonafide scammer to manage their properties and tenants. I really hope there is some way they can sue the hell out of the landlord(s) and that crook of an employee for the emotional and mental stress they have had to endure because of this ratchet a$$ situation

That happened to me years ago,...the manager ran off with the rent. 😮 I was one of the few tenants who had insisted on getting a receipt. I ended up not owning double rent. Scam artist are everywhere!
-
In my old neighborhood many housing managers got fired for the same thing. Stealing rent checks.

The old saying goes, "If something seems too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true."

They received a scam letter from the leasing agent, and they fell for it. Dont ever make payment directly to a staff member of anything... apartments, home, dealership, Walgreens, Walmart. etc. She's taken their money and gone. 😢

Keep fighting ladies. Praying for y'all

Yes take it to court. Sounds like almost everywhere now people are getting more greedy want more money. That's awful an shame on them. 😕

How is it possible that the property management company employed an agent that acted on thier behalf and they are trying to kick these ppl out because they subjected them to a scammer?. I hope they get a good lawyer and fight this. IMO, they should sue the property management company.
-
The agent should be arrested and placed in Jail....
-
It’s extra sad that the fraud of the employee targeted low-income single Mom’s!!! That’s terrible! Ugh scammer disgust me! No heart or humanity in their evil selfish greedy misdeeds!
