I thought Penelope's acting after her on-screen son Matthew died was stellar. It was the little nuances in her facial expressions, the eyes suddenly veiling over with a thin film of tears, the quiver in her voice, all the while staying dignified and generous. I really felt for her character, I could feel her grief.

I love that clip of Maggie and Penelope together. So sweet and endearing. Penelope has such a sweet voice. I love how she opened up about how she admires Maggie and I love Maggies response. So humble. Those two are gold together (both on and off screen). Two of my heroines!

There will never be another TV series of this calibre. You could sit back for an hour every week for many years and totally escape into a world that is so foreign to most of us, but fascinating at the same time. I would like to think there will be something new to rival it at some stage, but I believe this was the pinnacle of British period drama.

Phyllis Logan is my favorite in all of the characters. She presents a strong, wise, self-aware person who knows her limitations and the limitations of human kind. I like to imagine her character as a young woman learning her craft and learning about life.

I watched Downton Abbey each week it aired. Every special. The movie. Then binge watched the entire series from start to finish at least three times since its release. Just two weeks ago my husband chose to watch the entirety WITH me. I am still over the moon! I felt like I was sharing my family and friends with him. 💖 He really enjoyed it. Now I cannot wait for the next movie. 👍

Time period pieces are great ,but is the acting ,directing and all that goes into a fabulous production like this that makes for an unbelievable series ,Dame Maggie Smith is fabulous as usual,her witt is like nobody else and of course one amazing cast !

I had a dream that I met Maggie Smith last night. If only... One of the things that I love about her is that she can be the Queen of Shade on the screen, but is so shy and humble in real life. That is a true artist.

It must have been hard on the family who live at Highclere Castle, to be invaded monthly, despite the fees paid by the movie studio to rent it. But imagine this show anywhere else, it would never have been the same. The castle was so grand and striking in beauty, that it became one of the characters in the show as well. I was struck dumb by that beauty in every opening shot. Thank you Highclere Castle owners!
