I think that other than Cora, Anna is the most elegant and true ladylike person in the entire series. Title or not, she shows class at every moment.

The Anna and John Bates storyline is one of the things that kept me coming back to Downton. I adore these two together.

My favourite scene of Bates and Anna is in prison, after the verdict, when they know he'll be hanged and they speak of "no regret". The moment Bates says the phrase "No man can regret loving as I have loved you" and we see his tears, is the strongest scene for me. And it was played so remarkably well!

He comes across as sexy, dangerous and menacing. Anna and Bates is the most compelling love story on the show.

That end scene of episode 1 where he stopped the car and told Bates to go back inside... that was the moment I decided to keep watching the show. Until then, I had no reason. Bates and Daisy where my reason to watch the second episode. And then I was hooked.

My favorite scene between Ana and Bates is when he forces her to tell him about her rape. Such a powerful and heartbreaking moment, he was so tender and strong, he made her (almost) whole again.
