Mella is lucky that she has a great parent to take care of her. I have a dog with an eye injury who had eye surgery and the eye doctor told me I needed to make sure to keep her away from the other dogs in the house when someone was not watching them play after her eye healed. That is why my dog now has a large dog playpen (child-size) instead of a crate so she can play and have loads of fun without my worrying if something might happen to her eye again. My dog is small like Mella and has the same energy level as Mella. Hope Mella heals quickly and goes back to playing with the other dogs in the house.
  • I had a pug named Lizzie. She lost an eye and was perfectly healthy for about 12 years after her surgery. Thank you for being such a gokd pug parent.

Sending Mela love and healing vibes! With or without the eye she will be a beautiful happy girl after she’s all healed up. I mean she’s already gorgeous. ❤️ It’s good that you don’t use the donut style for this type of healing anyways. The cone protects her from hitting her eye on anything but the donut style doesn’t. Praying for smooth healing!

Prayers for speedy recovery for Mella. I have a dog that went blind about 4 years ago and she is still loving life and will still chase a ball. If she can hear what direction it went in she will smell it out.

Pugs are such amazing dog breeds, but so scary how many health problems they have just becuase if their breed. Glad mella is okay! That’s so scary!

Honestly if she looses the eye it’s not a huge deal for the dog. I have a dog with one eye. He was actually born that way. But dogs are so resilient. I’m so sorry she was hurt and y’all are going through this. It’s so scary when our fur babies get hurt. My dogs are like my kids. I absolutely adore them and would do anything for my fur babies. I hope everything goes well for her and the eye heals and is in perfect condition when the stitches are removed.

Oh bless little mella. Our late pug elsa(which we rehomed after her accident) was born with an issue with one of her eyes so she already only had one eye, and when my uncle went on holiday one time, while she was in the garden, she had chewed on a stick and choked on it and her last eye ended up poping compleatly out, and because she had scratched it after, she ended up having it removed and she was then completely blind. The vets wanted to out her down then, but we refused and took her in, to which she lived another 9 years until she was 13 ❤️ Fingers crossed mella heals well and her eye mends enough 💕💕

Poor Mella! Prayers for quick recovery! I love pugs and wanted one and that was one of the main reasons I chose not to get one. I can’t imagine how hard it is to see your dog like thqt

Aww sweet Mella I’m glad she’s ok. I can’t imagine how scary that was for you all. She was so cute when she was between Alex and Crystal she was trying to kiss Alex but was licking the cone. Praying for continued healing for Mella. 💜

Wishing the very best for your Pugga. Our fam has a Pugga who will be 15 in a few days. She lost an eye a few years ago. It was terribly sad but unavoidable. We say she is always winking. She has other health issues now but is so loved.

Poor baby. I’m glad you took her in. I’m so sorry that’s got to be hard. She knows she’s well loved. ❤❤❤❤
  • @nonondriessen
Thank you for the update on Mella and her eye issue. Knowing how energetic she is, it is probably better to keep the cone as long as possible. All the best for the doggies and their specificity.

Poor mella 🥹 I had a pug once and unfortunately she did get sick and died too young so definitely cherish mella as much as you guys can. I hope her eye gets better💗
  • @brendad940
How scary that must have been! Poor Mella, I hope her eye heals completely with no vision loss. Much love from Wilsonville Oregon

Prayers that Mella’s eye recovers properly. She is still young, I’m sure her eye will be fine. It’s so sad to see our fur babies hurt or in pain. My big lab threw out his back just by thrashing around in the grass about a month ago. Couldn’t use his hind legs for a few days. ER visit, X-rays, soreness, and some pain meds later he has finally recovered. Thank god. It was sad to see him like that. No more giving himself back scratches in the grass from now on.

OMG!! Mella is such a gorgeous pup. Puppy prayers to you Mella & Alex. 🙏❤

I’m so sorry Alex! It’s always hard when your fur-babies get hurt! Here’s my story time of me going through something similar. When I was 14 I got a Corneal Abrasion, I got hit in the eye with a piece of pizza, the crunchy crust cut my eye (the cornea) and the sauce and spices got in it and burnt it the inside of my eye. I’m 40 yr old now and still have a blind spot in my eye that they say will never go away. So yeah, I’d says is pretty safe to assume she probably has a blind spot but it probably isn’t covering very much of her eye. I’m glad she’s getting better!!! Prayers for a full recovery!
