In this Paramount Sound Pictorial, Irving Mills introduces the three famous Black bands he was managing at the time.

    Actually 1933. The Blue Rhythm plays "Ridin' in Rhythm" (which they recorded that year) Duke intros with "Sophisticated Lady" (which he recorded that year, segueing into his 1931 tone poem "Creole Rhapsody"), and Cab does "The Scat Song" (which he recorded in 1932 and again in '33).
  • Irving Mills' management of Duke Ellington presented him in the classiest way possible at that time, and Ellington always recognized the very important contribution he made to his career. Mills lived into the '80's, by the way.
