I Have INSANELY High Confidence in The Super Mario Bros. Movie

Prior to the release of the teaser, my best friend was so confident that this movie was going to be utter trash and just be a stain on Mario's legacy. He's hyped as hell for this film after the trailer.

Jack Black as Bowser was the highlight of the trailer and the Toad jump scare was hilarious 😂

This feeling I’m getting from this trailer is how I felt about the second trailer for the first Sonic movie with the redesign and then again for the second movie’s first trailer The comedic timing for the Penguins clashing with the Koopa Troop, that amazing kingly exchange Bowser and the king penguin had and all the voices, especially Bowser. Chris is at least trying to throw in a NYC accent for Mario like Lou Albano did for Mario in the DiC cartoons so I’ll give him points for that. All in all, I’m really looking forward to more. 🙂

Mario Cinematic Universe

That penguin sense is comedy gold!

It looks like Bowsers shoulders have a tint of green to it. I think this is a nice detail since its always kinda strange that his head is green but his body is full yellow. The green patches give a more subtle transition between the colors of his scales. I'm loving the extra details.

It honestly looks so great. I could nitpick things here and there, but overall I like it a lot. It looks like it'll be really enjoyable with a lot of whimsy. On Pratt's voice in particular, we barely got to hear anything of him, so I can't judge him too harshly, but I hear a slight Bronx accent, and Pratt's a genuinely good actor, so I think he'll sound totally fine in the average scene. Hoping for more trailers 👍

One of the only things that can be a hit or miss in this movie is Chris Pratt's delivery of Mario. I wish they'd find an under the radar actor who could assume the role naturally, but in terms of marketing, I guess they want A list actors to sell the film. Regardless, the pressure is on him

I think an interesting note is the main writer for this movie, Matthew Fogel, also wrote the story for Lego Movie 2. The beginning of the trailer reminded me of the opening of the first Lego Movie when President Business steals the Kragle. Also another interesting fact is the Head of Story is Ed Skudder who is the developer of the Unikitty show. A spin-off of the Lego Movies. And it even goes deeper cause the supervising producer on Unikitty is Aaron Horvath. One of the directors on this movie! A lot connections to a lot of familiar things.

Watch out Sonic, you have Movie competition.

I'm really glad we're not in the worst timeline. You also took the words out of my mouth regarding Chris Pratt. I think we just need to hear more. Anyways, the fact that I can feel excited for this is such a wonderful feeling. I can't wait to see the movie.

It'll take some time to adjust to Chris Pratt. When Charles Martinet first starting voicing Mario, people thought it was weird... like... there was the same cognitive dissonance for Martinet's rendition as there is for Pratt's right now. I think no one was ever going to be completely convinced. People project themselves onto these characters so much, just as they do onto Gordon Freeman, Chell, Samus, and others, that it's nigh impossible to deliver on that expectation that people have been unconsciously building up in their brains for three decades. This movie's gonna smash. Super smash.

Still unbelievable that we live in a timeline where an animated Mario movie actually exists and it's so far surprisingly amazing man oml 😍😍

I really want to here Charlie Day’s Luigi more.

Still can't believe myself how good this first trailer was... I pray this energy carries into future trailers and the final state of the movie.

The Mario Movie will blow everyone away in April 7th! I'm very excited for this Illunations Pictures did a very job on bringing the Mushroom Kingdom to life.
