A Video by Maximum - In 2011, a video game company known as HardCircle released a flash game called Pixel Quest, a game about a treasure hunter searching for golden idols for a tribe that had lost them. This game featured a dash mechanic that made the game quite fun to play, but this simple mechanic would end up creating the game's most broken speedrunning glitch: The Dash Cancel. With this glitch, Pixel Quest speedrunners were able to constantly propel themselves forward at dash speed, able to easily clip through any wall in the game, opening a whole assortment of possibilities for massive skips in the game's 48 levels. However, Pixel Quest has far more glitches than just the Dash Cancel, for this video will cover a whole assortment of other glitches that easily make Pixel Quest one of the most broken flash games ever created. This video will also cover how Pixel Quest came to be, the history of the speedrunning community surrounding the game, and the failure of Pixel Jones, a PC / Console game that was intended to be Pixel Quest's successor.

  • @Layla-gz4ed
This game feels like it was being held together by toothpicks gum and hope considering how many breaks appear in runs from random ass scenarios
  • @lslees_6192
i love the fact that simply pausing the game is the most broken feature in most flash games 😂
  • @banquote4253
I love the idea that someone is making sure to document the history of key gaming cultures, and I know that someday, far in the future, someone will be grateful for your efforts in preserving the history of this time. thanks for the continually impressive videos and hard work that you put in
  • @Luciousness
These walls surely can't turn into liquid! walls turn into liquid spits out cereal
  • @PressRToZeus
You're really right on flash games not having proper documentation. I feel like ninja kiwi could have hours of documentary on it, or just armor games as a whole. It was such a crazy time and it's still hard to believe so many games of incredible quality came out of it
  • @fynnsternis6432
"however, i just realized while writing this script that there is a far easier and better method for this one really complicated glitch", he just casually drops into the conversation lmao
  • @tofudaturtle271
Flash is was* a perfectly balanced engine with no exploits whatsoever * I miss flash. :(
  • @PatrickDavis28
This is actually pretty interesting. Yet another instance where a simple sub second pause completely breaks the game.
  • "So, Mr. General Baller, what inspired you to join this community?" "Money"
  • @xdxboxjaja
I can't wait until PixelPerfectRuns gives this game a go!
  • @eve6262_
maximum, looking at this game: "hmm there is a very small community around this, but I want new strats/cool optimizations..." maximum: "oh yeah I have a youtube channel"
  • @qurturt8872
"By mashing the shit out of the pause button he survived" is an amazing line
  • @Dbbens
I accidentally found this glitch while playing games back in elementary school lol, although I didn’t really think about any practical uses for it
  • @kingsiracha4565
It's really cool getting to see the speedrunning history of a flash game like this get documented especially coming from someone who was actively a part of the scene.
  • @ThaRixer
Amazing video and awesome music selection! Also jesus christ this game is broken
  • @yalkn2073
I find your channel by typing "red ball guy"
  • @Xyk468
I remember playing this game all the time and finding out many of these glitches on my own midway through completing it. I had a lot of fun messing around with the wall clipping on as many levels as I could use it. It’s always nice to see a video on something you used to enjoy a lot, so thanks for the great video!
  • @TheGaming100
YOOOO!!! I used to briefly run this game back in 2016/2017!! So happy to see it in a professional Video
