There are unexpected events that could happen on your driver's test. If you haven't had ample driving time, these events could cause you to fail your test. Emergency vehicles, yellow lights, turning left on yellow lights and other driving situations could catch you unawares. Pedestrians and other drivers could do something goofy. Be ready because it's going to happen eventually. If you're not taking driving lessons, take one lesson with an instructor to be completely ready for your test.

Good luck on your road test.

Great advice, especially the last bit regarding the Examiner. I let a rude Examiner get to me on my last test, and I ended up making so many silly mistakes I may not have made normally (and ultimately failing) because I let them fluster me. :( Definitely something I will mentally prepare for next time!

I failed my driving test when a big cardboard box fell out of the van in front of me. I focused on avoiding hitting it and didn't pay attention to the traffic light, so went on yellow turning red. The instructor said shit happens and while I failed, it shouldn't discourage me because otherwise my driving was fine. Passed a month later.

While practicing yesterday I encountered a big moving truck parked on the side of the road with traffic going on the other side, so I slowed to a stop, signaled, waited until it was safe on the other side to go, checked my mirrors, looked over my shoulder, went around, looked to see if there was no one behind me with the mirror, signaled back in, looked over the shoulder to my blind spot before fully merging, and carried on. Hadn't done it before, but I had sorta treated it like I was passing in normal conditions. I had also encountered the dreaded yellow light on my left turn while I was in the intersection, and thankfully just completed it before the light turned red. If traffic had been particularly heavy, I would have waited behind the line. This time there was the added bonus of someone illegally passing me on my left when I was in the leftmost lane since they were so impatient. I'm glad I wasn't going terribly fast and I was paying attention to my mirrors because it spooked me a little, and I had to break. I had time to break because of my speed and paying attention to what was around me. Then I had to pull over for a long line of cop cars. Saw them coming, signaled over, looked to see if I could pull over safely, pulled over, waited until they all passed. Then I signaled to go back in, looked to make sure it was safe by checking mirrors, over the shoulder, merged back in to continue driving. There's also road construction. Tis the season, so I obeyed the signs and made sure to be extra cautious. Then there were jaywalkers downtown. In that section, I usually go a little slower because I know people like to walk out in front of traffic there. So, I got a 6-for-1 yesterday. XD My test is tomorrow, and I don't think I'll encounter this kind of thing again when taking it, but I'm glad I did what I was supposed to. My mom was pretty impressed at least.

Thank you so much for all the helpful driving tips! I just did my class 5 road test in Kelowna this morning and passed first try thanks to your driving videos and lots of practise! I found tip #1 to be quite useful as I did encounter an emergency vehicle on the highway during the test but felt very prepared to handle the situation.
  • @z4ar
I just passed my road test today! Your parallel parking video/strategy came in handy. Thanks!

"Let them have their crash somewhere else" Well said 🤣
  • Something that happened to me recently when practicing with a friend was another car pulled into a one way I was coming out of for a 2 way stop (they were going the wrong way) and I pulled to the side to avoid a head on collision but it was still very rough. What tips do you have for this to avoid a blind turn and head on collision?
  • @baileyd7950
Do you have a specific video on how to tell the speed/distance of vehicles? Ex. If you’re turning right at an intersection, how do you determine how fast they’re going so you can turn?
  • @polarcobb6065
Aside from my class 3, every road test i've taken I had to parallel park between 2 vehicles, I took my learners in a Toyota sequoia and when it came time to parallel park the examiner asked me to park between two vehicles. As we got closer he says "oh that's tight, let's find another spot" to which I replied "I can fit in there". He was being generous trying to give me extra space but I was confident in my abilities, practice and be confident

  • What to do if there is a railway crossing which is seldom used? That means it will not be closed more than often and the road maximum speed limit is 70 km/hr. Do I need to slow down to reduce the bump of the track? OR do I need to keep the speed at the maximum limit?
