Hey everyone! So this one is my fault but I completely forgot that UFC on ABC Sandhagen vs Nurmagomedov was this weekend and we technically should have done official predictions in this podcast episode, especially since there are some solid fights on that card too. I'm trying to see if Rob can do a separate video later this week but if he can't (which is likely since he's getting root canals done), then I may do a separate predictions on my own. I really do apologize - again, this one is on me. Let me know your thoughts. Jonny

I think it comes down to Belal developing an AKA/Khabib style grappling system. Leon uses the fence to defend takedowns, and that works on traditional US college wrestlers like Colby and Usman, but Khabib's grappling style specifically uses the fence to get takedowns. It's also worth pointing out that Usman was dominating that second fight until he got caught.

Leon looked exactly like he did against Usman the second time (until the head kick) as for the time excuse from Leon some of the fighters on the card hadn’t slept in 2 days (Nathaniel Wood) and still won. Belal made Leon look like that.
  • There is a large similarity between how Belal pressured Leon and how Strickland pressured Adesanya. These precision counter strikers cannot cope with a high pressure/high volume fighter.

16:05 robert was wobbly after that head kick whereas Belal didn't even get fazed after that elbow, he got cut, true but wasn't close to get finished.
  • @Ar1AnX1x
Leon was playing with 150m/s latency
  • If you look at the fight back it’s clear that Tom was itching a bit for the finish, but there wasn’t many shots that landed on him, Curtis jab just before he got ko’d was the best one Toms head movement is great and he always just makes his opponents miss.

32:00 Robert Whittaker should be named King Whittaker 😂

I was also thinking Leon was going to get it done, comparing fights against colby and ousman, but surprised the domination from Muhammad, Well deserved Respect, He is the Champion

Damn if Belal can makes Leon look like this...i think he'll beat Shavkat

The elbow in 5'th round didn't do enough damage to outweigh being dominated for 4.5 minutes. If the elbow had knocked Bilal out or affected his brain then sure. But all the elbow did was make him bleed. Bleeding isn't automatically massive damage.

I think the time of the fights was a factor in alot of these fights
  • Belal wrestled Leon the way Khabib took down Porier. I think we are now in a new phase of counter wrestling and I expect Dricus to employ the same strategy against Izzy whose anti-wrestling is quite similar to Leon's.
