Rebuild Port Washington Station WITHOUT Property Acquisition

Published 2024-03-06
One project being promoted by the MTA is a re-do of the terminal station at Port Washington. Without showing or describing anything, they make it clear that property acquisition will be necessary in order to allow storage of more trains at Port Washington to address capacity problems on the branch line. But the line's capacity problems are caused by it's single track configuration allowing no trains to pass, on a line that was built so it could be easily expanded to two tracks minimum end to end, in about 1900. Using the compact solution shown here it's possible to store twelve 12-car trains at Port Washington and still have a couple of tracks left over to serve the passengers.
