As a greek I can confirm that these are the basics in what we learn in history

I was invited to my friend's house for dinner. His family is from Italy. The rules were as follows: 1. Everyone is family, 2. You don't say no to more 3. You participate in the festivities

as a greek i can confirm parties are still like this even though we are almost never rich
-
the idea of one guy who makes sure everyone's the same amount of drunk is genius
-
We enjoyed symposium quite often when I was in college. History does indeed repeat itself.
-
Everyone should have a partyroom at their home, i love that idea😅

Ah you've got to love ancient Greece, from the culture and the arts to the parties and their very fascinating religious belief systems

The fermentation process was far less refined than it is today. The yeasts were different and there usually wasn't any additional sugars added in the wine making. So, even the strongest wines were like 7%-8% alcohol by volume. Further dilution made the beverages like a very mild beer. Even so the idea that all parties followed a strict etiquette should be dismissed entirely even for the upper class. The idea was to drink and get tipsy (drunk actually).

" Find an excuse to party" Brings back memories of my college days :)

I just love the fact that people have always drank together. It has always been a thing. Even the parties have basically been the same from ancient times to modern age.

Explains why my Greek grandparents allllways made sure everyone was fed well and had what they needed I definitely miss my grandparents they were just different then born Americans they came from Greece
-
Fun fact: Many houses in Greece and italy still have rooms dedicated to social gatherings
