Tom's EV and charging reviews on this channel and on his own are detailed and informative in a way that shows he really understands the subject. No fluff, no marketing hype.

This F150 Lightning is shaping up to be the most practical vehicle ever offered to the public, Ford's engineers and designers have left no stone unturned in building the features everybody wants and needs. The sports car acceleration performance is an added bonus, I'm seriously considering placing an order. Ford seems to be the closest EV pickup truck to actual full production status, if they can get these trucks on the streets before the competition that would be a big accomplishment.

As a contractor who goes to various work sites this truck will be perfect for my needs. I average about 150 miles driving per day so i wouldn't have to worry about charging outside of my home.
  • @mikestephensen
The concept of using my Lightning as a battery so I can run my cottage during peak electrical hours and charge the truck during off peak hours is a game changer. I'd love to see more about this, the inverter, the control panel, the charger etc. Thanks !

19.2 kW charge rate is more than the peak consumption of my whole HOUSE which peaked at just over 18kW. I have two EV's that can charge simultaneously. This is a great video!! The Frunk in the Lightening looks really awesome and so much better than the Rivian. Ford have utilized next level thinking and engineering here.
  • Tom's videos are solid, thorough, and useful! Appreciate the extra time to produce the time line for navigating the subjects. Thanks InsideEVs!

Awesome video. I can’t wait to get my lightning. I always wanted a f150 for a family car but could never justify the poor gas mileage and lack of enclosed storage. The lightning will solve both of these issues. I’m considering the $40k base model.

I have a Dodge Ram and a Chevy Bolt. The Ram is too expensive for fuel for everyday driving which is why I have the Bolt. I will sell both the Bolt and the Ram and get the F-150 Lightning as this solves both issues.

The keys to getting the F-150 right were a) price point and b) making it actually better than a gas or diesel truck. Clearly nailed both. Having the dry storage (with a drain) is insanely useful, for lifestyle and commercial buyers alike. Not sure how well it'll sell in exurbs and suburbs in Texas and beyond, but it's a seriously capable vehicle with a lot of features that a gas truck simply doesn't have. Having that much power available without having to have a gas engine running has got to be so useful on just about any jobsite you like - but also a rave or a party where you can run coolers/sound systems etc or a trailer for performing, or living in like a caravan. What a vehicle! Only a shame it'll never come to the UK (where it's too large for British roads really anyway) but I'm interested to see whether they can make a Ranger version of this (I think a Transit version would be a lot better than the e-Transit too, but we'll see!)

I'm sure that many college campuses, municipalities, airports and the like will be purchasing the commercial oriented budget priced F-150 Lightning. Good work and good luck, Ford!
  • Really enjoyed seeing a sneak peak of the new plant, hope they invite you back to see it again when it's fully operational. The frank is even more functional than I orginally thought and agree the loading height is great. I put a reservation for one in at the end of May, keeping my fingers crossed that I'm in early enough to get one delivered by next summer. Great job Tom, looking forward to seeing more updates as you get them.
  • @bradbeckett3800
Interesting in towing range but not necessarily at maximum load. When you get your hands on one, maybe you can do a range test at 3,000, 6000 and max towing. Thanks

I had a 2016 F150 3.5 Ecoboost or TT Platinum. It was so extremely comfortable I drove cross country in little over 3 days almost 900 miles a day. It had adaptive cruise and the visibility is awesome and cabin cavernous with great sound system. Even tho I have had 4 Tesla, I would definitely highly consider the F150 …if they were around anytime soon!
  • @briancayer5815
Great video Tom. I saw your eyes light up when you liked what your new truck looked like in person.
  • @petebremy49
Thanks Tom, I love my Model 3, but the Lightning could very well bring me back to pickups!
  • @FreedomToRoam86
One thing about Ford, is far and away the best truck out yet for a contractor to plug into and work from. That Frunk is just amazing. Will be great for hauling tools AND guys AND building supplies all at once
  • @musicjohn1
Great review Tom! Keep up the awesome work.
  • @fpartidafpartida
This is awesome! So glad Ford let you tour the unfinished factory, that’s so cool😎.

Tom, you’re a national resource, thanks!
