LYRICS:
When I was younger, so much younger than today
I never needed anybody's help in any way
But now these days are gone, I'm not so self-assured
Now I find I've changed my mind
I've opened up the doors

Help me if you can I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round
Help me get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me

And now my life has changed, in oh so many ways
My independence seems to vanish in the haze
But every now and then I feel so insecure
And I know that I just need you
Like I've never done before

Help me if you can I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round
Oh, help me get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me

When I was younger, so much younger than today
I never needed anybody's help in any way
But now those days are gone, I'm not so self-assured
Now I find I've changed my mind
I've opened up the doors

Help me if you can I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round
Oh, help me get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me
Won't you please, please, help me

  • No one can belt a note like the way John does. His voice is out of this world, his rendition of this song is phenomenal. He brings the lyrics to life
  • @DJAYPAZ
It’s great to hear a cover that respects the original song but also adds something new.
  • Hi from Australia, your reaction and insight is great. It doesn't matter what song John sings, a cover or original, he always sings it in a way that you feel every word. I truly hope you continue down the Farnham rabbit hole, there is so much more for you to discover and enjoy, there is nothing John can't sing. ❤️🇦🇺
  • They sent John a message praising of his version and said don't think anyone could've done it better Also told him it's was the intent of the song when written But the recording studios didn't think it would be popular in that version and why went for more up beat version As you alluded early in your opening So they where extremely happy with john's version Cheers guys 🦘🇦🇺👍
  • He is one of our most loved artists!!! What he gives through his voice is our voice!!
  • John is the G.O.A.T. He could sing any genre. He has a beautiful stage presence and the utmost respect for anyone he works with. He is a very generous, kind and loving human who gives his utmost in every performance. He is Australias favourite son and sung the same right up to ,2020 at the age of 71. He is phenomenal, theres no other word for him. ❤😂🎉 I hope you react to a lot more of him. Our gorgeous John ❤️❤️❤️
  • You really do appreciate the lyrics more when John sings it. It is definately is a plea for help in Johns version. It really made sense for it to be such a plea for help for John as he was going through a really rough time when he first recorded it. In his early career he, was managed by a guy who totally controlled his life and ran his career right down into the ground. John was pretty much a performing puppet with no say in his career. When he first recorded the song in 1980 he had finally split with his manager and was going alone and really did need help. And we all saw this as his empassioned cry for help. His fans all heard and remembered what an amazing performer he was and it was pretty much the beginning of his maturing into an adult contempory performer at the age of 30 and the boost his career needed for him to get back on track. Before that he was a teen pop idol whose star had faded .❤❤ he started in 1967 with number 1 hit Sadie and remained king of pop for 5 consecutive years from 1969 until he dropped out of favour in the mid 70's. After he recorded Help, he went on to be the lead singer of The Little River Band for 5 years before going solo again in 1986 and releasing Australia's most popular album of all time Whispering Jack oin 1987. He followed on with another string of number 1 hits for the next 40 years and has remained Australias favourite entertainer of all time .❤❤❤ I hope you'll take the time to check out some more hits from John Farnham Try his most famous song You're the Voice live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra ❤️ 😍
  • @tonyd3027
Absolute aussie legend, magnificent voice, sensational showman and just a bloody beautiful human
  • @Sophira1
I love and really enjoyed your thoughts and reaction on this amazing song and performer. Thank you so much!
  • John has been singing 'Help' since 1980, singing it at the Royal Charity Gala, Sydney in front of the Queen and Prince Philip, in an interview with Michael Parkinson later he said he was so nervous he forgot to do the big 'belting' HELP in the middle of the song, - 10 years later, on the Chain Reaction tour (1990) John did a 'back to back' HELP, singing the Beatles boppy version followed by his own, here's the link if you would like to listen - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5n-H7qoY0Ow and 1980 gala - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVUzvOcrasw , I really enjoyed your reaction, I hope you do a lot more of John, there is so much more to do, welcome to the Rabbit Hole and Thank you.
  • Wow guys. Great reaction 😊 John Farnham is an absolute legend of a singer and human being - you quickly picked up on two particular qualities that John is well known for, giving respect to fellow artists, and portraying pure emotion in his performances ❤❤ I hope you listen to more. Would love to hear what you think of You're The Voice from this same concert just as a starting off point. Thanks for listening to John 😊 Hello - I see you there Heath Ledger poster, another Australian icon. Nicely played Asaf 👍 😅
  • Hi guys ,this was an encore after 2_21/2hr concert, he then sings AC/DC a long way to the top . Also check out John and Jimmy Barnes singing When something is wrong with my baby live on a TV show called Hey Hey Its Saturday cheers from Oz
  • @jemxs
I heard this version first and has always been my favourite. The raw emotion and John's brilliant vocals gets me always.
  • Agree 100% this is how the song should be sung. God bless you John!
  • If John did a cover he always made it his own except for one that he never intended to record. John always made them better than the originals and this was John Lennon approved and how he wanted to sing it. I loved the Beatles but none had our John’s voice. COVID retired John followed by mouth and voice cancer that he has come through well. He is now 75 years old and I last heard him sing at 71. His voice was the same. This song was the last song at a concert of more than 2 hours of that voice. The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra love working with him and by the end of the night he will have introduced everyone on that stage because that is who he is. He is kind, funny, humble and more, he is also loved by us. This song fits John because he went through a lot of bad things before he did it. His range is huge and he sings 13 genre’s naturally including Opera. Someone just forgot to tell him he is famous until now. He still got surprised when famous singers and musicians came here to tour with him. Thank you.
  • Great Request thank you so much for helping the world hear the special talent that is John Farnham! Great Reaction!!!! Thank You so Much ✌ Subbed and Thumbed ✌✌✌ 🇦🇺
  • This entire concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is amazing....you guys should check it out...
