www.ted.com/ Legendary skeptic James Randi takes a fatal dose of homeopathic sleeping pills onstage, kicking off a searing 18-minute indictment of irrational beliefs. He throws out a challenge to the world's psychics: Prove what you do is real, and I'll give you a million dollars. (No takers yet.)

  • Sylvia Browne was later confronted by Amanda Berry, a kidnapping victim she claimed was dead several years earlier. It completely destroyed her career

The correct way to pay a homeopathic practitioner is to leave a small coin in a big glass of water for ten minutes and then give him a tiny drop of the water

I used to think that people who were conned by psychic mediums were stupid and deserved to lose their money until my own dear father died 6 years ago, only then did I fully understand just how emotionally vulnerable grief can make you.
  • "He died of an overdose: he forgot to take his pill." Spit out my coffee with laughter! RIP, great sir!

Anyone can talk to the dead. Getting the dead to talk back, now that's the real trick!

Three years later and I still miss James Randi's intellect, commitment to his specialism and rare ability to address many differing types and communities with integrity, humour and the truth.
  • I’d love to spend an entire day with James, & just talk to him about things.

Rest In Peace, James Randi. You were an inspiration to many skeptics around the world. May your legacy live on.
  • It's a shame that even after 10 years nothing has changed. Homeopathic institutions and practitioners are flourishing every nook and corner of India.

He was really one of the best ... not only fighting for truth, but doing it while being very funny! RIP!

He's like the positive version of George Carlin.
  • What a badass. I love that he came along and basically just said 'prove it'. And not one damn person has been able to.
  • @therealzilch
What a legendary voice of reason in a time that really needs it.
  • @SageandDust
I'm very sad to see he's gone. I saw the articles when he passed. I know he was old, but we needed him.
  • @kahlzun
I don't know who this Ted is, but he always has interesting guests

"He had trouble breathing" James: FOLKS, THAT'S WHAT DYING IS ALL ABOUT. YOU STOP BREATHING AND THEN YOU'RE DEAYED.
