I used to work on these. Something that will help immensely is there’s a counterweight that sets on and pins to the foot platform.

For 2 grand and a bit of time and effort - you have a dandy little machine that will certainly be fit for anything in a normal residential yard... Fantastic job, m8!!!

On that Knick on the bucket cylinder shaft, I have seen many youtubers get that JB Weld steel stuff, and apply that to the Knick, and then when its good and hard, sand it smooth. Just stops the seal getting caught on it. Its by no means the right way to do it, but to get you started and prevent you having to tear it down immediately, worth a shot. Nice work getting it working
  • Good work Mr. Please tuck your hoodie strings in while running lathe😮

i would have fired up the "Chinesium motor" before cutting the shaft but thats "confidence" that you got it all installed before you fired it up. 🙂

You got one heck of a deal, super handy machines for tight quarters, easy to transport!

your amazing how you can remember all the parts you took apart and able to put them back together always baffles me about great mechanics.. congratulations on your new purchase
  • That was a good industrial engine. It had more than just an oil leak. It was taking on water and being run before it gave up. I would pay the premium to put another Kohler back in.

Insane deal, got a slightly larger and older ramrod unit and built a BMG style grapple for it to drag brush and firewood. It genuinely muliplies efficiency by 3x or more for the work I do

Great job!. I like the way you modified the new engine to make it work.
  • If you lightly file the damage to the cyliinder rod you can apply some jb weld and sand it, this will stop damage to the seal, I have done this to several machines with great success
  • Good job mate. Turn the engine mounting plate around and move the engine forward. It will give you more room on the step
  • I know that this is an older video. But I can see the trouble with the exhaust already. Because it's still going to heat up the hydraulic lines? Because you still have to cap off the end of the muffler. And by the time you finish the end of the muffler you are still going to be in the same situation? I probably would have gotten a different style of muffler? Or maybe make more modifications to the one that you have
  • Mate you can lock the Milwaukee drill chuck by turning it back 1 click after tightening it, hole saw will never fall out again.

I bought myself a real old 610 Bobcat a while back and it's great but I sort of want that Dingo now, Great rebuild and improve on that machine. Cheers
  • When the water comes out of the engine and you could drink it. It’s the worst because you know there’s a chance it will run again. Not for long in most cases.
