I live in New Zealand and moved out of town to a two acre block surrounded by paddocks which have grown wheat, ryegrass and potatoes. It’s amazing how farming is done, the machinery and dedication of the farmers and contractors. I am always enthralled to see something new from season to season. They all deserve more credit because it’s a hard life and they battle the market and the weather. Thanks to all farmers for making our food.

I was raised on an 80-acre Spud farm near Buhl Idaho. 1947 Hand-cut seed eye per piece. Farmall F-30 tractor. Hand-picked and hand-bucked. School closed for harvest. Pickers got a nickel per sack. Lots of work but it was a great way to grow up.

Seeing a potato farm takes me back to my time as a 13 year old here in the UK potato picking. We would be picked up by the farm lorry at 5am, then work filling 1 tonne wooden crates with potatoes that you would pick by hand. As a 13 year old, I earned more than £100 a week (about $170 at the exchange rates of the time) doing that backbreaking work from 6am to 5pm for a few weeks every year.

Did anyone else hear this April about a water war imminent in Idaho ? Even with all of the rain and snow the last two years ( thanks to that submerged volcano popping two years ago in Hunga Tonga) the inept 'authorities' are claiming the farmers can't irrigate hundreds of thousands of acres of crops this year.

Its really nice to see how other Contries plant Potatoes and what kind of machines are used. We are already done with planting our 830 hectare (around 2000 acres). Greetings from Germany

I remember planting potatoes with my grandfather. We would sty up the night before cutting the eyes off that we planted. Man miss those memories for sure. We would have a 1/2 acre of potatoes the rest all vegetation you could think of that would grow in the south Texas area. We planted 1 1/2 acre of groceries and dang those veggies was the better than what you buy in the stores now. Homegrown is the best without all them chemicals the government wants yall to put on them. Yeah while it took some to keep the bugs, insects,etc away but dang love me some homemade veggies. Keep up the great work!!!

Clarkson's farm has got me incredibly interested in farming lately. The machinery, the technology and how it's all done is incredible. Already held farmers in high regard for the amount of hard work they do, and that's only increasing with every video I watch, even the logistics that go on to make all this come together is amazing. Thanks for taking the time to share your incredible work and help educate people on the work that goes into putting food on their plates.

An awesome operation you have there. Last year my wife threw some old potatoes in the compost pile. A few weeks later we noticed the leaves so we took them out, planted them and later that season I dug up at least a dozen lol. So they’re not hard to grow.

I grew up in Shelley, knew your family and good friends with the Dial and Cannon families. RIP Curt Dial. Me and my brothers come and hunt pheasants in and around Shelley every year, harder to find em but still a good time. It was a great place to grow up in the 70’s and 80’s. Moving pipe, spud days and learning to drive everything imaginable starting around 7-8 years old. Thanks for sharing your operation.

Great video. I am a retired grain and livestock farmer from MT. Great to see how the potatoes are grown. In my graduate wortk at Oregonstate I Worked for the potato breeding project and Foundation seed. Very informative farming video.
