INCIDENT DATE/TIME:   7.24.24 | 9 PM
LOCATION: Upper park rd. and upper bidwell park
AREA/CITY: Chico
DETAILS:

The Fire known as the Park incident has exploded to thousands of acres in just a few hours.
100s of vehicles and residents are now trapped and cut off from evacuating down Cohasset rd, where the fire has overtaken the exit route out of town, and residents and vehicles are sheltering in place under the protection of first responders.
The fire started around 3 PM this afternoon as a small grass fire. After an hour, it exploded to over 2,000 acres, starting from the Chico Valley and running all the way into the foothills.
A video was taken from Cohasset Rd as we tried to access the community of Cohasset, but the fire completely blocked us from continuing to progress.
Fire resources are bravely attempting to drive through the flames wall and access the town.
Incident command is talking about the possibility of ordering National Guard helicopters to possibly start evacuating people by air from the heli-base at the top of Cohasset
More details and videos are coming.

Omg how terrifying. My love is with these poor folks... the firefighters, and all the innocent animals... it looks like how I imagine hell. 😢

Thoughts and prayers to all who are affected... not just the humans, but think of all the poor animals. The man who started this needs to be locked up for life.
  • Growing in Malibu as a kid in the 50's ... am still feeling traumatized by huge fire storms like this!

My neck of the woods. I'm not liking summertime like i used to. To much devastation. My Neiborhood burned up in the Carr fire ,my whole street burned up except my house and a few others. Had survival guilt when my neighbors of 25 years were gone.

I've read that if the fire's big enough and sucking in enough oxygen, there are situations where your car won't run because of lack of oxygen. Shit's serious. Get out as EARLY as you can!

You can hear how strong the wind is. That makes it almost impossible to fight this fire. Terrible. It's like a raging beast sent from hell.
