Imagine how trippy this cartoon would look if it weren't based on a video game

God, I remember watching this on Pop all the time in.. 2008 or so? So nostalgic.

"Super Mario world... it's a blast to teh past" ... Friggin tell me about it. I've been humming this sh*t the last 30 years and finally remembered the damn show it was coming from. Good lord, can check this one off the list.

fun fact: the intro was animated by a japanese animation studio.

This song was composed by legendary New Wave composer Mark Mothersbaugh (co-founder and member of the New Wave band Devo, most famous for "Whip It". He also composed the Rugrats theme and was producer and supporting composer to the first four Crash Bandicoot games).

Funny how this was more popular here in Britain that it was in America
  • As a kid I always wondered why the Yoshi in the intro looked so much better. Now I know why. SAVED MONEY? YUM!

I just realized that Yoshi literally has a gut of steel...

If they spent as much money on the actual cartoon as they did for the intro, it would have been far, far more epic than it already was! Loved this!

Channel 4 in the mornings. Before school. Memories of a old git.

My favorite TV show growing up by far! Loved the memories ❤️
  • Did anyone notice that the intro had the most budget than the actual episodes themselves? Just look at that shading!
