Here’s the story!! this was a performance for our school’s annual holiday showcase. This wasn’t a serious concert obviously; this performance was meant to entertain. I had a week to write and put music together, put this group together, and then practice before the audition. I had asked Grant literally the day before the showcase to play the slapstick part (And btw he’s not even a percussionist LMAO fun fact: he plays the clarinet) I’ve seen many comments saying we sound bad… and I will say this once.. this was also our 5th time playing this IN A ROW.. ON THAT SAME DAY! So of course we were going to be tired, missing a few notes, being out of tune etc. and not to mention this piece is already difficult enough.. but that’s not the point of this video. This performance was meant to entertain the audience, hence the slapstick and the horse whinny (which is why I chose this piece in the first place) so thank you all for the love and positivity. We all thank you and we are glad you still enjoy watching our performance. Hi! Round 2 of going viral again LMAO for those wondering how we didn’t laugh.. We were all good at hyper focusing on the music and not Grant and the audience’s reaction. Grant also told us not to laugh RIGHT before we went out for our performance. We had no idea he was gonna run around and jump in front of us, but it was really funny.

To those of you that might not know, it is VERY hard to play a brass instrument while smiling, so hats-off to those students for keeping their composure enough to play despite the outstanding efforts of Grant.

This sounds really nice but that slapstick guy had me dying
  • @essasin000jr
I love how the trumpets start breaking down, can only assume they're laughing with the audience about Grant. Fucking wonderful performance lol
  • @mknz4948
the way he runs like the grinch - I'm crying
  • @MicahiLove
Even though they messed up a lot later in the song, you can totally tell by their tone and diction that these are some talented players. Give them a break.

Alternative name: Sleigh Ride but it slowly descends into madness.
  • So crazy how a slapstick can turn into the main instrument everybody wants to hear😂

I'm a drama teacher and this is what teaching art is all about to me : let the kids have fun performing!!! This is amazing and inspiring!
  • @realEggieBread

  • @gillexus9123
The lengths I went to find this is would be embarrassing if it wasn't totally worth it
  • @dutchie7376
This is literally the best slapstick performance I have ever seen in my whole entire life. Not to mention one of the trumpets wearing a horse mask for the horse neigh thing. Masterpiece.
  • I mean, mad props to every one of the folks playing because there’s absolutely no way that I’d be able to hold my laughing in after that first *leap-slap.*
  • @Widget6616
This was genius, these kids CLEARLY enjoy this class, kudos to the teacher (seeing that kids are just dying to break out and do something fun) the parents (for sharing this lol, and for having such talented kids that just want to have some fun too).
  • I’ve made a tradition to watch this every year in December or whenever I really need a good laugh.
  • What my band did for our Christmas concert is we had our principal dressed up in a Santa costume, "conducting", and at the horse whinny one of the trumpets popped out of one of the presents we had on stage wearing a horse head. 😂 Twas fun
  • @REPTILESRUL
Ok so I'm a percussionist and I genuinely hate playing anything with sleigh bells at Christmas because it's so repetitive and monotonous... I'm sitting here a week out from Christmas, watching this with the biggest, goofiest smile on my face. Grant, thank you. Thank you for being you and to everybody else for providing such a great rendition!

Whenever I hear "Sleigh Ride," I just think of this video. The very memory of it makes any version of the song infinitely better.
