finally a Roanoke documentary with science instead of "did this happen, we don't know, and we don't know that either, but watch us go places and not know." I love history and mysteries!

So glad to see History Channel producing content similar to it's roots. More talk about history and the research going on.
  • It’s so cool that Zach is picking up where Leonard Nimoy left off years ago.
  • I have known about the lost colony for years. It's wonderful that scientific advances of today can be used to find survivors and date artifacts so carefully. This story isn't just about the colonists survival, it's also about the survival of the Croatoans and their culture.

I used this as part of my Mysteries in History mini units with students , along with controversies , it drew them into learning and critical thinking. So much fun! My students always felt the whole story would have made a great movie.
  • Awesome documentary. I'm a native from hatt Island I remember digging up pottery when I was a kid crazy stuff. my great uncle told me he remembered Indians in Buxton in the 20s with blue eyes

This is what the History Channel did best NOT UFO Ghost Hunting and Pawn Stars

I think it’s interesting that so many people recall learning about this in school. I live 40 minutes from Roanoke Island and can’t recall ever hearing about it in school. Lol 🤷🏻‍♀️

I love our new In Search Of host. <3 Thanks for coming aboard, Zachary Quinto, it's just perfect!
  • Blackbeard also traveled the inlets in the 1700s as well as other pirate ships. Blackbeard lived in Beaufort, NC. The artifacts from Hatteras could have been from the old shipwrecks. When I grew up, the landscape has changed significantly. Up North on highway 12, at low tide there are many wooden shipwrecks covered with sand. It used to be a maritime forest where trees poke out of the sand. I was told there was an inlet there which has since covered up. On the sound side of the beach area there was a high cliff with old village ruined. A tornado eroded the sand on the cliff and it collapsed into the sound. Behind Jockey Ridge there was an old house belonging to the Midgette family (the dunes of shifting sand covered it completely). There were two trees in back of the ridge where we found numerous arrowheads and I was told this was an Indian burial ground. I had an old English beer pitcher I found. I don't have it any longer. Because of the change in landscape, it would be extremely hard to identify areas that had been from the colony era.

This was a very enjoyable episode, and I like how it is more detailed and more science-based versus the original episode of this same topic within the original "In Search Of' series.

This was an awesome episode about the Lost Colony of Roanoke. It’s pretty awesome was the advancements in technology that we can actually test peoples DNA and find out where they came from. So cool!
  • He’s got the perfect pitch voice to narrate and host this show. I love this show. How detailed and thorough it is. Not like many other History Channel shows.
  • @wickedcha4202
So anyone gonna discuss that fact that the colony might have been found? This changes history.
  • @braggarmybrat
Very cool, to think that these people who were abandoned were taken in, and with whatever hardships they endured, survived. Now, thanks to Spock, I want to watch AHS Roanoke again. 😄

So glad to see Scott is finally getting some attention
