Pretty sure pop tabs have the hole in them because it uses less material, the straw thing is a by product

The smaller hole on a gas can is not for letting air escape, it's for letting air in while you pour.
  • @markjones2349
8:21 no the air doesn't escape when you pour gas. The air goes into that hole instead of rushing back in from the pouring end and causes glugging. Pouring creates a vacuum.

I finally know why they are called "Straw"berries.

The arrow pointing to which side your gas tank is one of the most useful information about this video

No, the loops on a shopping cart are for safety, to prevent people (especially kids) from getting cut on sharp wire ends, where they would otherwise be cut and ground down. They also help in the assembly of the cart. On your own example, they loops don't go high enough to hang anything on. They have been there since the first wire carts were made in the 1800s -- long before there were plastic bags to hang your eggs in. The hole in the pop can tab is to help you open it -- flat tabs on cans as large as pop cans were unsuccessful when tried in the 1980s, the finger would slide off too easily. The hole in a pen cap is to let air vent out when the cap is put on or removed. Bic pens didn't used to have them, and caps often got held on by vacuum. Not all cars have arrows on the gas gauge. The gap under a restroom stall is to let a mop work. That's 1/3 of the way through, and I'm amazed at how much of what Google told you isn't actually true.

Actually, the blue side of the eraser is MEANT for pens- a How It's Made video on erasers showed a company that CLEARLY said "The blue side of the eraser is mixed with pummus, so it can erase pen ink."

All these years I thought lego head holes were so that the hats could be worn

I’m always thinking, I’m going to remember all of this, and my life will be easier for it. And I usually don’t 🤣
