RIP, Jon Povey. Can't believe I just found out after approx. 4 months, but shows how underappreciated the Pretty Things were. Anyway, a great talent and huge part of my favorite band- I have or have had almost everything they ever did, and still listen often. Felt sad on hearing this, but then again he did make it to 80 and had an interesting life.

I heard Jon was working on a solo album (at 80 yo!!!) and I hope he was close enough that we will get to hear it.

Thank you for the very sad news. Just like Phil May, his sad passing will be kept very underground. Povey and May were legends. We are the lucky few who have been gifted with the sounds they gave us while they were alive.

A great musician and beautiful human being has left us. Rest in Peace Jon! I met him many times over the years and I treasure the good memories. Jon and Wally joined The Pretty Things in April 1967,after John Stax left the short lived 4 piece band ( Phil May, Dick Taylor, Skip Alan, John Stax), which gave their last concert March 27th, 1967 at the famous Casino concert hall in Scheveningen, The Netherlands.
  • happy to hear old pop and rockers coming back and we can see their history - love music - changed my life and still at it a little now 5 guitars 2 amps 68 yo soon. blessings .
