WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE DUTCH ENTRY FOR EUROVISION 2024?
  • The Dutch should be PROUD of this! Although it's clashing with other songs, it's very catchy and memorable. It's also art since it's dedicated to Joost's father! This song has STRONG potential if staged right.

Eurovision is an emotional affair for Joost. As a child, he watched it together with his parents. "Parents, one day I'm going to be on Eurovision stage" and he made it. Unfortunately, his parents died when he was a child. This song is dedicated to his late father. That's why it's called EUROPAPA. The part in the song “I'm in Germany, but I'm so alone. I'm in Italy, but I still feel the pain, etc.", I feel it's directed at his parents... Joost loved his parents and still does. His lyrics are mostly very deep, but the melody is happy, danceable and the clips of his song are presented in a fun way. Joost himself said that his musical style is diverse. When Joost was asked what song they should listen to in order to understand you. He answered Florida 2009 (it's about his parents) and Wachtmuziek (it's about mental health). I recommend listening to them. You have to translate it, because he sings in Dutch.

I'm a Dutchie and F*ck yeah that Joost is doing this! Grown up in the nineties and Gabber is Dutch culture and great to see it in a Eurovision song. Also the ending is double.. His parents.. And Europe burning at this moment.. We all need to get together and fight against the wrongdoing right now.

I'm so happy. At first I was a bit afraid when they announced Joost but this song is so good. Proud dutchy here.
  • @leendertjanw7540
Like Maike, I'm a Dutchie that hates gabber. But I was immediately drawn to the contrast between the party sound and the sad lyrics. And the final part hits like a brick.

For those who wants to know the story behind the song <3 The song is a tribute to his parents who both died at a young age. The lyrics are about living life as an orphan, which Joost is himself. That’s why he says ‘Euro-papa’, ‘being alone in Germany’ and ‘Papaoutai’ (dad where are u?) and ends with this sad ending. His dad told him that there are no boundaries in the world, both in personal achievements and between countries

That‘s f***ing good and my Swiss heart‘s not amused about that fact. 🤩✨
  • As someone who normally listens to hardstyle/hardcore i see this track as a huge dub, also the fact that it is different then what the Netherlands usually sends out I'm happy with Joost.
  • @marcofrerix2369
It's amazing! A partysong with a very deep message. Joost you did it 🎉❤
  • Happy Hardcore over the world.. DANCE AND UNITE....greets from the Netherlands to you all.

12 points de la France 🇫🇷 ! Cette chanson est troublante, triste et avec plusieurs sens… ❤️‍🩹 Vive l’Europe 🇪🇺, soyons fiers d’y vivre et vive la Chanson de Joost. 😍

I am totally surprised I LOVE this!!! Takes me back to the 90s and all those different styles that actually originated from the Netherlands and all go so smootth into echother. And then at the end that emotional ending.. its a rollercoaster of emotions. And hey, life can be a party but not all the time. 12 points from me!
  • @damian796
Malmo will explode with this song!!! I don't miss this live, it will be incredible. The first place in televoting!!! Up Europe!! Land of great opportunities!!! Up to the Netherlands!!!
  • @pas76
I am Dutch and I am obsessed this hardcore gabber style music was from my younger years never expected it to be in Eurovision ❤🎉
  • @mzbelgium
It makes my heart so happy to see you all reacting this way to this song! It's not my usual cup of tea at all, but I'm fully rooting for Joost this year. He has something special.
  • @musikkritisk
I "hate" this song because it made cry at the end of it, after so much fun, and with "hate" I mean LOVE, he is doing a kind of homage to his parents and Europe, and you can feel that even knowing a thing of dutch, that's what good music must make you feel. Well done, Netherlands! All the best in Malmö!
  • @thebigtenfour
Massive props in embracing Dutchness in every way. It takes the song to the next level. And I think the crowd singing along to the Europapa-pa-pa-pa-bum and stomping to the hardcore are gonna be massive moments in Malmo.
