So we traveled to Japan to film a three-part series about beauty & style and our final episode is testing a full face of makeup from the Japanese drugstore! I've heard so much about J-beauty and Japanese makeup trends like Igari makeup, so I decided to buy a full face's worth of beauty products and try them out, along with some current makeup trends. What did you guys think of my Japan-inspired makeup look?

A GIANT thank you to RinRin for helping us! You can check her out here ~

I know this comment is like, nine months late, but I just had to point something out about the foundation. That kind of cushion foundation is really popular in Korea and Japan I believe (I live in Korea and I know it's popular here) and I'm sure you haven't and won't run out of it soon. The cushion holds a surprising amount of product, even if it doesn't seem so. Once you run out of the product, which you actually haven't, you can pull out some tweezers and flip the cushion over. The back bit will probably have more product for you to use! P.S. I know only a few people will see this since I am like, months and months late, but still, I had to point those things out. Edit: jeez i came back after 8 months and i just realized i got like 2.9k likes and a ton of comments! (well it might not be a lot for other people but this is the most amount of likes and comments i’ve ever gotten!) thx so much guys!!!
  • if you ever make your own makeup, please name one shade “blood sensation 53 exposure”

The differences I've seen between Japanese makeup and western makeup is that in Japan they want to look more cute and youthful and in western countries like America and the UK its more about looking sexy and glamorous.
  • "I shouldn't fix it cause that's always when it goes bad" Life motto
  • thank you for not being ignorant about asian makeup, so many beauty gurus make fun of japanese and korean makeup

Something I love about Safiya is that she is very body positive. Isn’t afraid to mention sideburn, waxing her mustache, hammertoes, etc.

the difference between western n asian makeup: western contires: dry n dark asian contries: moisturized n bright soft pink

I love how respectful you are towards this all. I am American and often when I see American YouTubers try out products or trends from other cultures, there's a feeling that they're making fun of what they're trying. They might not being trying to be mean but at some point there's always a moment where they think something is very weird. I'm not saying every American YouTuber is like that but it definitely stood out to me how genuinely interested and loving everything that you're trying. Your personality and zeal for life is so much fun to watch

"We can't come back. This is the only chance I've got!" Me buying makeup anywhere abroad. 😂

BLOOD SENSATION 53 EXPOSURE! omg~ 😂😂😂 You looked so cute in the makeup! It's definitely a bit change from Western trends and so interesting to see~ I'm also really happy to hear you liked the items I recommended 😂 Personally I really loved how the eyeliner, mascara, and the under-eye highlight looked on you! Great video~! Congrats on 5mil subscribers! I'm excited what kind of tattoo you'll get!

"Blood sensation" is probably just a very litteral translation of their word for blush, bc bluching is a blood rush reaction.
  • Asian makeup is very on the premise of making it look natural and complimentary to your skin. Honestly I like this style of makeup a lot.
