  • I have the women's Etherlight XT, wide/regular size. It's lighter and warmer than the men's version. I did quite a digging to find out what makes it a men's pad vs. a women's pad and basically the women's pad has a narrower shoulder region (since all men apparently have gorilla shoulders) and is meant for side sleepers. Since I'm skinny and sleep on my side, I just bought the women's pad and sleep warmer and carry less weight in my pack!
  • Great video, I love my Tensor but always wonder if I'm missing something, this video helps validate it. Thanks for sharing and being awesome!
  • I slip my sea to summit pad (extreme version) into a sleeping bag liner, it acts like a soft fitted sheet 👍🏼
  • Great job! Clear, concise and covered all the bases, well done. I'm working on a vid comparing the Xlite and Etherlight, but wanted to reference the Tensor and a third option I haven't had the chance to test myself, so if you don't mind, I'll link this video for that info (and because I came to the same conclusion that the Etherlight provides the best sleep in warm conditions). Happy Trails!

Finally, someone who tells the truth when it comes to warmth on the S2S pad. Many reviews skip over this aspect. It could be that they sleep warm so it isn't an issue. I notice quite a bit difference in the warmth, but also agree the S2S is more comfortable, luxuriously comfortable for a backpacking pad. For me, the Nemo is not far behind, but much warmer.
  • I picked up the Nemo Tensor Alpine last year and I'm quite happy with it. I'm 6'4", 230 lbs, and I find it incredibly comfortable to sleep on my back or my side. I've taken it down to about 12F with a quilt and found it to be very warm. With a foam base pad, 0 degree quilt, and a liner bag, I'm confident I'll be able to take it to subzero degrees this winter.
  • In my hammock I use the 7R exped downmat winterlite down to -30F. I’m going to the wider Exped Dura 8R @ 2.5 lbs this winter. My backup sleeping pad is a 6’ 8mil orange bag that I can fill with pine boughs. I turn the bag inside out, resin side out, to sleep inside in an emergency. The bag is heavy but one is none.
  • I use the Sea to Summit Comfort Plus XT Wide....really comfortable and warm in winter and big which I like but a little noisy. May have to try the Thermarest 25".
  • I had a Etherlite XT, thing popped on me on my 2nd trip with it. Replaced it with a Thermarest XTHERM so far so good on 3 trips.
  • @seedmole
I have a wide extreme Etherlight XT, and yeah it's super heavy and bulky. Amazing pad, but yeah, the synthetic insulation stays bulky when packed, and weighs a lot more than the amount of reflective material you'd need to get the same warmth.
  • I have to say I prefer my Sea to Summit Comfort Plus over my Etherlite XT. I’ve also had two Etherlites leak. I’ve lost confidence in their ‘welding’ and have gone back to using the Comfort Plus with its ‘belt and braces’ dual layer of air cells. One final advantage - it’s only 6cm thick instead of 10cm giving you more headroom in a low tent.
  • The BA Rapide is my favorite. I have the Q-Core Deluxe and I had the Etherlight Extreme (Men's) and I get a better sleep in the Rapide every time. My problem with the Etherlite was that it was too noisy for me. I toss and turn a lot and it would wake everyone else in the camp up.
  • I am still a fan of the Zenbivy light mattress. I have down to sub freezing and been extremely comfortable.
  • @KR11111
I figured out the best sleeping pad for me is the EXPED Duo. Even though it's meant for two people (more like 1.5), it is awesome for one person, especially if you toss and turn, sleep on your side, or sleep in runner position. It also has a fairly decent loft to it. However, when I get a significant other I'd probably have to change it up and either have both of us use the duo or just buy one of the these.
  • Thanks for this great comparison vid - subbed. Newbie here looking for max comfort. I've heard great things about both the Thermarest MondoKing and Exped Megamat but neither mentioned here?
  • JUSTIN, Can you do a review of the zenbivy sleep system sir?! thank you
  • I move around a fair bit while I'm sleeping, whether at home or in the tent. Last year I switched from the Tensor Insulated Long Wide (I'm 6'3", 195lbs) to the Nemo Quasar. I find it to be way more comfortable than the Tensor, and have definitely had my best camp sleeps on this. This pad tapers from 3.5 inches to approximately 5 inches thick at the head, and is body mapped with thicker 4.5"?) sides. I find this feature reduces shoulder pressure when combined with a pillow for side sleeping. A bit heavy at over 2 lbs, a moderate 3.3 r value, but I find it to be super deluxe, and also quiet to sleep on.
  • @craig3401
Personally I think pad width is more important than depth yes the s2s ith deep but the regular means your arms fall off the sides.i now use the thermarest xtherm in large and it's super warm and it's way more comfy
  • I have the ether light, it is awesome Have a exped syntmat hl duo, s2s is more comfortable
  • I personally own the etherlight xt longwide edition, a friend of mine bought the nemo tensor. Well, mine is waaaaay louder and a good bit bulkier, the tensor is so much more quiet. Nevertheless I am happy with mine, it IS loud though
