In this video Heimler walks you through the roles and powers of the president, which covers Unit 2 Topic 4 of the AP Government curriculum. The president goes into office with a policy agenda and uses both formal and informal powers to get it enacted. Formal powers are those given to the president explicitly by Article II of the Constitution, powers like the veto and the role of commander-in-chief of the armed forces.

Informal powers of the presidency include bargaining and persuasion, executive agreements, and signing statements.
